Hey there!
Just stopping by to say Hi and introduce myself. My name is Jaime and I'm a brand spanking new rookie scrapper. My butt is still sore from kicking myself after realizing all the money I've been throwing away over the years.;(
I'm a single mom to two boys, and unfortunately live at home with my folks. I'm currently going to school for diesel technology so that we can afford to get back on our feet. Unfortunately, I was let go from my job at Advance Auto Parts because they were unable to accommodate my school schedule. It is what it is, and they have to do what they need to in order to make money. But being out of a job sucks! Funds are rapidly dwindling, and while I've filled out tons of applications and had interviews, work is just not coming in. So I turned to scrap to at least try and scrape up a few bucks so I can afford to get to school. Little by little I'm learning more and more about different types of metals and other materials, and it is somewhat therapeutic to be able to break things down without having to worry about putting them back together!
I'm trying my best to be patient, I don't have a truck, or even a little trailer, so that really limits me from being able to pick up any sort of big items. I'm not expecting to make a living just from scrapping alone with my little car, but if I can at least make enough to keep gas in it so I can go to school, I'll be happy. I'm extremely lucky to have such a close family that knows I'm working hard to get where I want to be, and has the faith that I will one day reap the rewards.
So that's where I'm at, basically.

Welcome from another gal!! I also dont have a truck, just reg car, but manage to pile computers in rather well. You might want to put down an old, thick blanket to put the scrap on, esp if u have an SUV. Saves your car from mud, rust, tears, etc from scrap items, at least it has worked for me! Keep us updated on how you are progressing with school and work (scrapping and other!) Best wishes!
