Hello SMF from Dallas-Fort Worth
Hello all from Haltom City. I have taken a few minutes to look over the forum. There seems to be a great deal of information here and would like to thank everyone for the education. I am new to the recycling community, and have jumped in up to the neck right off the start. I started about 6 months ago and regret to say I had to learn a lot of lessons the hard way. I am in the e-waste arena and have been having a great time so far. I have managed to pick up between 6000-7000 pounds of electronics so far. Having done complete disassembly on all but the last 300-500 pounds has been no less than interesting. I have found the major portion of "scrap yards" I have had the misfortune to deal with are at best poor poor choices. After locating a few places to ship boards (logic, LSMB, SSMB,PCI) that there has been a difference of half "market value" up to what equates to a profit of 6500%. While I must assume the responsibility for not doing my homework, I am still having an extremely difficult time locating a local yard that offers a competitive compensation rate. If there is anyone in this area who would like to assist me in this area please feel free to message me. Thanks again for allowing me to become a part of your group and I look forward to learning from and with everyone.
John

Thank you for the referrals. I will look into them. Allen is a beautiful town. Lived in McKinney till a year ago. I have several on line stores that I am currently selling items with life in them still currently, but am always willing to try new venues as well. Amazon has been good for a few hundred a week the past few months on good screens, drives and memory. Ebay can be profitable, just much more work and I have found it to be more hassle than its worth at this point.

it has been a hard start to say the least. I had been storing it in a storage room until I could get to it. now that it is "full time" it has definitely become much more profitable. made the mistake of hauling 4 huge loads home and not realizing the time needed to disassemble everything. two weeks later almost through it all. still a room and half to get through
