New scrapper
I'm new to the game. Grandpa left a bunch of old metal and i'm trying to find the items of value. I already found about 120lbs of #1 copper. Now im rooting out the brass fittings and anything else non-ferrous. I found several lead weights of sorts. I'm not sure how much extra that goes for. I also found several things listed in the identity thread. I also found an old fuse box. The box itself was steel of some sort. Inside I found plenty of copper contacts.... but the housing that holds the contacts and fuses... what kind of metal is this? Zinc or magnesium maybe? its grey, heavy and i have no clue what it is. I have found it in all sorts of fuse boxes and other things im guessing because it doesnt conduct electricity.... thoughts?

Check out this website. Rockaway Recycling They have pictures for identifying materials, as well as a good price guide for estimating what your yard might pay.

Near me, lead is going for $.47 a pound. I'm usually toward the low end of the price range, so you might get a bit more.
