Just a tip about microwaves

Some people here probably know this already but I've never seen any discussion about it so I'll just put this here in case. The little motor on the bottom of the microwave, the one that turns the glass table, if you can't resell them don't scrap them for motor price! Put it on its side and hit it with a hammer a few times, the bottom will come off and you'll see some gears, keep hitting on the side until a spool of copper come flying out. Very easy and only takes a few seconds for a nice amount of copper! I had sold these as is for years and just figured this out a week ago.

This is nice! I have a few of them in the garage at the moment and will absolutely use this method! Time and money are synonymous!

Most people on here already know this....but while we're on the topic of microwave tips...

Don't throw your glass turntable trays away until you check the price on eBay. Some sizes are next to worthless after shipping/fees/time but sometimes you can strike it rich with that plate of glass! Some people love their microwaves, or have them built into their kitchen. After they drop their glass some people are willing to pay up to $30 for a rare turntable. That's $30 more than you had if you're throwing them in the recycling bin!

Don't get me wrong here...some go for $4 with free shipping...probably not worth anyone's time..but check em out before you throw em out!

Now you tell me !!

I keep a couple of large, smooth-bottom microwave plates around to use for pizza trays. Have to be large, obviously, but the smooth bottom keeps them from wobbling when you run the pizzacutter across them.

I scrapped a old microwave from the 1980's. Was too rusted to fix up. But the microwave plate it had was ceramic and I sold it for $50 on ebay.
