New guy
Ok, I am retired and plan to start scraping this metal I am collecting while I do handyman work. However I have o clue what's worth fooling with. Will never be a full time scrapper, I don't think. LOL I am looking for someone I can get to know and would not mind teaching an old man something. What brought me here is a question. I have several swimming pool pumps, some have plastic cases and some metal. Should I remove the. Electric motor from the plastic or just sell for weight? Should I tear the motors apart or not?

Firstly welcome to the forum. Secondly, it all depends on wither you feel it's worth it. If you have time, take the motors. If not, send em as weight. If the pumps work you might be able to get more then scrap for em by selling them.

Welcome and get you a favorite beverage and look our forum over, notice the different sub-forums with different types of scrapping. Everyone here is different so what may be worthwhile to me will not be to the next guy. This is Scrap Metal University so be prepared to do some reading. I tend to tear everything down to the very basics. Depends on your time frame whether you rip them apart. Some bigger motors have good copper in them but there is a science to getting it out. The info's in here. Good luck
