Scrap yard won't pay me
Here's a new one.
I send at least 1 30 yard roll off bin of shred a week to the scrap yard.
This week they are using a contract trucking company because their only company driver is on holidays.
I sent a full 30 yard bin to them yesterday (Tuesday).
I always send a courier to get my check because it is cheaper than running my diesel truck 60 miles to get the check.
This morning the courier called and said there is no check and there won't be for at least a week.
I called the scrap yard and they told me the trucking company's insurance has expired so they won't pay me for my metal until the trucking company renews their insurance.
WHAT?
What the heck does that have to do with me?
This is a scrap yard that buys stolen metal on a weekly basis from our town crackhead and he has stolen 2 grand worth of metal from me (witnessed).
This scrapyard is a national company US and Canada. (starts with an s ).
Busting my hump to make a living at these scrap prices and they pull this BS on me?
GRRRRRRRR!

Sounds like it's time to find a new yard. IF you do get paid in a week, you never know if this will become common practice or if it will get worse, ending up with you shorted a full payment somewhere down the road. It sounds like they are struggling financially and in this market it is unlikely they will bounce back anytime soon. Just my humble opinion.

Sound's like a yard we have here in Indianapolis, IN also begin's with an s but not the same as your yard. Drop your load off, come back next week to get your money, if your lucky, it dosen't matter if it's $5.00 or $500.00. As of now closed as computer's are down?????? GOOD LUCK.

I'd run quickly! To me it sounds like they're seriously hurting for money and are using any excuse available....
-
Iam new to this but it sounds like they are going under fast.Get away from them and don't go back. And I hope you get your money for that load.
-
Try to send either a letter or an email to the owner of the yard. Send certified signature required. Explain the situation and ask for their response in writing.

Thats a classic case of money problems. New Yard time.

I did get paid a day later after I called the head office.
I was told they thought the metal belonged to the trucking company and that's why they didn't pay me.
I have been paid on time for the last 5 years by this company so I will forgive one error in payment.

If it's not omnisource then who are dealing with? Six yards in Indy. Why wouldn't u ship to one of the three biggest yards in America?
-
I ship to one of the biggest companies in North America.
I am in Canada so Indy is a little far to ship at today's prices.
