Not that I frequent them but when hookers stop taking printed things as payment, then you know a see change is at hand.
I don't know if there's a situation where fiat money suddenly all goes valueless, its so ingrained in people to pay with it, and now it doesn't even have to be physical, just electronic transfers. I bought the book Death of Money a couple of years back because I had just a long lay-over at a an airport. I thought the book very interesting but some of the scenarios seemed a bit far out there. I think a more interesting case would be what if the electrical grid and all the electronic payment/transfers capabilities went down and stay down for a good long time (6 months or more), what would happen then with "money"?? There's a report out there about if the right 50 or less places were hit, it would take the electrical grid down for extended period of time (6 months to over an year). That would certainly put a crimp in the typical American lifestyle and probably collapse your pyramid payment scheme.
