vehicle recycling

This is a new area for me. I've only scrapped 1 car before and that was my own. It was a 2001 ford expedition. pulled the tires that were almost brand new and sold them. Also pulled the aluminum rims, battery, a bunch of wire and maybe the alternator (can't remember on that one). Got one cat and one pre-cat. Stupid me couldn't get the cats on the other side cut after I put it on the trailer. Never thought to turn the wheel. STUPID!

So last night, I saw on a facebook tag sale site, someone selling a 2002 Subaru outback for $250. It has a bad frame on it, so parts and scrap only. I checked the curb weight and bringing it in as is, I can make my money back. Called my cat guy and got prices from him. Tires are brand new, so those will get sold. Has aluminum rims, so that is a plus. I pull the battery, altenator and probably the starter. Not sure what else. He did say there were a lot of new parts, so we will see on that. Should be able to at least double my money.

Now I just need to find more time.

I'd take that 5 days a week.
Nice to switch it up once in a while.

What is scale paying there?
Only $110.00 a ton (2000 pounds) or .055 a pound here
Car should scale at about 3500# or $192.50
So not seeing how you can make money by >> bringing it in as is, I can make my money back

I am down towards the cape >> Exit 4 off 495
I am paying $100.00 for average car with steel rims
another $50.00 if it has aluminum rims
Will do $150.00 for big cars like Crown Vics or SUV's
$200.00 for Full size Pickups and maybe a little more if extended cab and 4X4

Scale price where I would be taking this is $136 / GT. I'm getting dealer pricing on all my containers since May of this year. Should be able to do the same with this, just under $0.07 per pound. At 3500 pounds, comes up to about $243.00. Pretty close to making it back.

Tires are good, should be able to get $100. Should be at least $80 on the cats. Aluminum rims, battery, starter, alternator. Maybe not quite double, but close.

Subaru parts are in high demand. Part that baby out. I can't keep suby stuff in my yard.

All of them. I actually did a Craigslist ad with the last one I got in and people picked it clean.
