The things people throw away.

I was scrapping at curbco last week and turned into a court with a large pile of boxes next to a trash can. Driving in, it just looked like boxes stacked up. Going out, I saw something at the end that looked like a speaker or radio of some sort. Once I got out and picked it up I realized it was a guitar amp. A Marshall Code 50. Retails for 319 bucks. Hardly a scuff on it and I picked it up before the rain had started.

I did connect to it with my phone via bluetooth and had a family member with a bass guitar plug into it and verify it worked. Not a thing wrong with it.

I listed it for a few days on offerup with a few questions and low ball offers. I listed it today for $200 on marketplace and had it sold in a few hours for $180.

It amazes me what people throw away!

I sell and scrap for a living and I understand why people throw stuff out.....alot of work/effort to scrap/sale stuff every day 7 days a week for last 12 years to earn a decent living.....have never worked so much in my life but also most gratifying work I have ever done

Yea, selling is surly a hassle and I can see why people would avoid it. I've had stuff for sale and after a couple of weeks of ****ing around with tire kickers, I just end up scrapping it. I sometimes offer something up to friends or family for free to avoid something useful going to the scrap yard.

I agree that some people throw money down the drain and we can find fabulous gems sitting on the curb. I could sell some of them locally or online, but you pretty much explained why I don't do it and why I do what you do. Selling on Ebay is the worst.

I exclusively sell on eBay now. What I sell is mostly computer/server related so it is economical to ship. Plus with eBay there is no "tire kickers" or "hey lets meet here at this time" and then I get there and they forgot and aren't interested anymore. I've never been more frustrated that when dealing with the general public trying to sell something locally (on FB marketplace or CL). With eBay, the item sells, I ship it when I get a chance, and its usually all good. Sure there are some returns, or damages from shipping sometimes but that isn't too often (<3% of my orders according to my ebay profile) and id much rather deal with that than waste time putzing around trying to sell locally. I only sell locally now if it is an item over $50, that I know will sell easily, and that isnt able to be shipped.

I was shopping at Curbco yesterday and I found a nice little wine cooler with two full bottles of wine. No vintage of course, but 4/5 stars when I googled the names. I don't know if there's a catch, but I am thinking about opening them and have a drink.

Truly amazing, got this microscope in the trash.
