Scrap brass question

Hey guys,

I'm running into a bit more brass lately and had a question on sorting it. The two main kinds seem to be yellow & red brass. I'm seeing old fashioned chromed brass faucets that are a white metal when i hit them with a grinder. Is it nickel brass as mentioned in this link ?

Of course ... every yard is different but is it generally okay to throw em' in with the yellow brass at most of the places you've been to ?

It's definitely brass and not die cast (which can look white also depending on the light)? If definitely brass there should be no problem to put it with the yellow brass.

A drop of nitric acid would tell you what you have, Nickle turns green, if you don't have any nitric you can mail me a thin slice and I'll test it for you and post the results.
