my first non-ferrous load

So this will be my first time taking in a non-tin load. Ive applied a lot of what I have learned while lurking the forums. are you guys willing to take a bit of time to look over and make sure im doing this right?

I wish I could break it down more, but i all I really have is hand tools. Is there an easy way to pop the parts out of the crutches? seems like it would be a real pain to try and pop off all the little plastic and steel bits by hand.

I pulled the brass out of the car radiators but dont have any methods of easily pulling off the plastic and steel (no powertools) will i be taking a huge drop in price for this?

contains a lot of vacuum cord wire, computer harness wire, christmas lights with the bulbs snipped off... will any of this be a problem?
also when i first started filling it I chopped off all the transformers but later threw them back in, is this okay?

those thick L shapped things look gold on the faces, but at the end of one face and along the side, they have the orange shine of copper.... :confused: they came out of some heavy duty electrical box thing

On the radiators, the tanks are easy to "clean". Just get a big screwdriver and bend the tabs back. They will pop right off.

after you get paid get a saws all, Then you can cut out more and make more,,,

Yes buy a sawsall and an angle grinder, also a vice to hold the items. Get a magnet so it is clean material you are selling and you won't loose money. Keep reading here and learning. Best to you, Mike.

On your motors, the transformers should go with the starters/alternators. We usually put ours with smaller motors like out of hard drives, cd drives, and floppy drives. The heavy gray and black heavy wire you should strip it and gain over $2.00 a lb.

Those are brass, copper would not stand up to the heat of the electricity, most boxes have brass inside for contacts.

You can sell them as they are or break them down and get hi grade price for them. Personally, I'm breaking down all our cd, floppy drives for the hi grade boards.

I figured i wouldnt bother breaking off the plastic chunks since I couldnt get the steel chunks off also

Not sure if you took it in or not. but anything less than a pound, you will be taking back home. scales by me only go by the pound. not sure if it rounds up or down

Always remember. A sledge hammer is scrappers best friend!! The metal doesn't have to look pretty when you take it in... just be clean. the yard can really take you if you don't get all those pesky nuts and bolts out.
