Copper from Microwave Magnatron

The magnetron's with the purple ceramics are toxic if broken and you inhale the dust.

how do you get the copper out of them Gus? I'm so scared of even trying being the ends have that poison in them, and do you cut that whole belly section open with a saw then?

To avoid breaking the ceramic I use the 3 jaw chuck in my lathe as a vice then cut the copper free using the saws all. I could use a bench vice but it;s mounted lower and it kills my back having to work learning over even the slightest for any length of time.
