would it be worth your time?

Hope to score a large # of computers but in order to do so may have to take 45tvs and approx. 40 printers. Will also pick up several of the large commercial type copiers. would it be worth 125$ for the tvs and printers if you had to drive 30 miles to destination. I do not know if any of them work or not. I am trying to determine whether to break them down or cover my cost and let them go--- and would it make a difference if the copiers were thrown in? I think there are about 7 large copiers. I currently do not have room in shop so I that is why I was considering letting them go.

Would carry to the farm and they might have to sit in the rain which will mean scrap value only for sure. WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

I'm sure i could get around atleast $200 for the tv's and printers from the yard i go to.

How many and what type computers are involved? Mike.

Just to make it clear what I would like to do is sell the tv's and printers for 125 as is in order to concentrate on the computers and monitors.

Computers are a mix of Acer, hp, dactech, dell, compaqs.

I would make the room and do it. Hell if you dont want point me there. Those large commercial printers are like 300-400 lbs or better. If you break them down some high grade boards, lots of wires and motors. Even if you dont break the printers....7 of them is 400 bucks in scrap weight if my figures are correct.

I would take that pickup all day long. How many towers are you talking about?

Load up all printers and other material that your local yard will take first, then make a run to sell. Then come back with empty truck and pick up towers. No need to store stuff that you can sell immediately IF You are not going to break it down. IMHO only

Im kind of in the same boat right now, I got a guy that is trying to get rid of 14-20 Large Printers 300-400lbs a piece I was wondering if it would really be worth it to tear them down, what do some of you more experienced individuals have to tell me and others???

You should probably charge for their removal. Most companies that take them are $100 per unit and $50 per unit per flight of stairs.
You'll also likely have multiple toner tanks, and lots of plastic. The main boards on ones I've done was easy to access, but lots of the motors take a bit of digging

im kinda unique and some of you guys will probably hate me for this for not breaking them down, but when i got ****loads of printers last year from the school, they immediatly became car filler, some were so big they took two of us to load them

Well the guy already said they are mine for free, and he has some other guy that comes and picks them up for free and removal is free kind of lame actually. I asked the guy if I could charge him he said no. But he did say they have a fork lift that would load them, which is good, but I am going to need a trailer and a lot of space case I think I want to tear them apart. Staples will take toner cartridges for $2 a piece that is how I get rid of all of what I had already. I just hope they dont take the boards out or anything else of greater value. I can only get .03 cents for them whole right now, I think I want more than .03 cents a pound!

I get paid for plastic as well .o5 cents a lb

I called them toner tanks(similar to a lawn mower gas tank) because I wasn't sure what else to call them. They're "not" cartridges.
Some use liquid toner too, in a "spillable" tub, instead of powder

yikes. my yard takes them with my shred. 10 cents/lb

The full size copiers are worth good money if they work, but even the parts can be quite valuable.

That's alright bro, I understand and I think I have run across one or two of them already, sadly this was when I didn't know how hazardous they were and I might have thrown them out.

On ebay maybe? I guess I could find the time to look up parts and such and do more research before I send them to a scrapyard. I also might check into some of the few I have obtained just to see if they work properly know that you mention it.

It's hard to give up free, unless it's many miles from your home. I Have a 6x10 trailer and was able to load 6 of the large floor model copiers. They are not as much weight as you would think. Most are less than 200lbs. There are some good resellable parts including fuse-elements, ram, HD's, etc. But if you plan on parting them out you better have a couple of hours each. I personally hate doing them.

where are the fuse elements usually located?
