Copper coated Aluminum?
Hello everyone, i just got a Dish washer, Washer, and Dyer all for free... Took all the motors apart for the copper, Stripped the wire off the motor of the dishwasher first, then dryer, and while doing the dryer wire, i realized it was copper coated aluminum and not solid copper, same with the washer, Is this stuff worth anything? Thanks for the help!

Throw it in your dirty aluminum bin. Most appliance motors are aluminum windings.

No don't throw the alu copper coated windings in the dirty pile. Most yards will take them as clean sheet aluminum or at least my yard does. That'/s a dif of almost 30c. Dirty is 15c versus 55 for clean sheet.....

Check with your yard first. It seems like every yard is different. Also depends on what tier (sp) you're on.

thanks too i was wondering about that. i have a similar question.
what about the aluminum wires in side of the insulators. some are copper in side others are aluminum. do i seperate them or just act like i didnt notice them. what do the yards do when they see your buckets of wires like that? should i strip off the ends just to prove they are copper and or aluminum? im not going to strip them all to much time unless i diy something.
i have a 1/4 of a bucket full but i havent sperated them at all.

My yard doesnt care what kind of wire it is, one set price. Currently 1.50 per lb.....
