Tonight's score

Saw an ad in the free section of the local classifieds stating "moving business sale". The ad had 70+ views so I figured the hoard had been alerted and everything would be gone. The location was close to home so I went to check it out anyway. When I pulled up there were two trucks loaded to the brim with boxes pulling out.. I sighed a little. Walked up to the shop said hi is this the "moving sale"?

Long story short the shop was used as storage for a gentleman who owned 20+ cell phone "franchises" (and was a hoarder) in the valley and everything here was past its end of life or did not sell.

I walked away with the attached pictures for free :)

I happy with what I got but a small part of me wonders what the people before me got :eek:

Are you going to scrap all of them or list them on ebay? I always try to sell things before scrapping them. You'd be surprised what old cell phones still bring on ebay. Those look to be in decent shape. Even if they are outdated in our eyes, some people still just want a simple cell phone. Same goes for all the accessories in the second picture. Just an idea if you hadn't thought of it already!

I try to sell when possible... That being said it comes down to time and effort vs. reward for me. I hate selling stuff online and have an even greater disdain for packing and shipping product. It comes with the territory though..

Off topic a bit....Okay w/OUT laughing so hard you all fall off your seats... But I STILL to this day use my first cell!! First row, 7th phone Motorola i205

People can laugh at me all day, but when they're sitting there with NO service, mine works just fine ;) I've also dropped it 1001 times and its NEVER broke on me. For me personally though, I can't see spending money on something that will break after the 1st or 2nd time I drop it, and believe me I WILL drop it!!

Okay. Now you got my curiosity up. Please let us know how the selling part works out for ya. I have somewhere around 500 or so different cell phone cases and chargers. Not my usual gig. Wasn't sure what I was gonna do with em. Thought about ebay, but I've never sold online before. Don't even really want to fool with it, but since I've got such a large quantity I may give it a shot.

Those yellow cell phones, if they are the walkie talkie type, you could try contacting some small landscaping companies and sell it them.

Some of the other phones looks like a bit of potential. Check on ebay or even CL for some ideas.

The box of chargers etc, should definitely sell.

Yea, but for the ones that have no feedback on flebay it is tough to get started. You almost have to give your stuff away to even get started with sales, then the ratings will start. Or maybe sell a larger quantity to someone on here that does do flebay already. You move your product and they make a little money also.

If you are considering starting to sell something on Ebay I suggest you set up an account now and make some purchases to start getting some feedback. Cell phones would be easy to ship and would be a good way to get started.

My biggest struggle with feedback is getting people to take the time to leave it. Sold hundreds of items and never had any complaints or returns but less then 150 feedbacks. Tried several ways to make sure people leave it, but nothing that works for sure, latest strategy to to leave it for them only after they have left it for me and that sadly, has worked the best.

I know Amazon is not ebay, but when I bought my power cord from amazon, I wasn't allowed to leave feedback for almost 1 1/2 weeks after receiving it. If it wasn't for the email, I would have forgotten about it.

I do agree, that if they want the feedback, make them work for it.

On my packing slip that is printed out and shipped to each customer I have this at the bottom. I think it helps gain me about a 65% feedback ratio. My ratings are 100%. "Thank you for your purchase! We look forward to doing business with you again on Ebay. If you enjoy the fast shipping and quality handling of your order,don't forget the feedback. Thank you,, Mike"

I've been meaning to start enclosing something like that next so that is a good motivational kick in the butt to get cracking on that. Also was hoping to start generating repeat biz from customers purchasing from my website instead of Ebay to save on fees.

Regarding your feedback woes KZBell, I have the same situation. I don't print packing slips for my packages but I do something as a little kick in the behind. I'll wait a few days after it has been confirmed delivered through the tracking number and choose the Contact Buyer option. I'll write this: "I hope your item arrived in a timely manner and to your liking. Please consider leaving a five star rating and positive feedback as my feedback rating is very important to me! Thank you!" I'll usually have a few feedbacks left for me the next day I check into ebay. You have some people that have a very low rating that will never leave feedback and some that have over 1000 and still won't leave feedback as well! You know they have to know to leave it since they have so many themselves but I digress...

I have been buying off ebay for several years now and have left feedback everytime. Only once did I leave bad feedback but it was after I got ripped off and ebay declined my protest. I don't understand why others don't leave feedback, I get positive feedback each time I do, Mike.
