Hello all. Im a small time 28 year old scrapper from Australia. I have been scrapping for a while now but have recently started to collect E-Scrap. I was so interested when I found this site and i hope to increase my profit margin. It would be great to hear from other E-Scrappers in Australia and see how they process their e-scrap, I have not done a lot of research or sold a batch yet but the only offer I have seen online in Aus is low at $1.50 a KG for MB where as in the US you guys seems to get double that a pound I don't know if these guys are low balling or is the Aus market for e-scrap not as lucrative. ?

Hey Maca :) Welcome to the forum. Hang on to it, the market will be there too. I used to buy computers in lots to get them working, not to scrap them, but still, got many along the way that just weren't worth fixing. Those would go into a corner of an old tractor shed, behind some "other old junk", and over several years that pile got kinda large, but computer boards were considered "toxic waste", and nobody wanted them, especially not the landfill. As time passed, and I was wanting to move closer to home, it became a growing worry to me what I'd do with it all, sure didn't want to leave them there, and my landlady had been far too good to me. As the time to move got closer I learned the scrap yard would take the boxes, less the PCBs, and began tearing them down, but the growing pile of PCBs was still a major concern. My last resort was to hide them in heavy trash bags and take them in as garbage, but finally talked to a computer place downtown who'd "take" them. It almost filled a long bed ford ranger, a little ute to you, and as me and a worker were moving them to gaylord boxes on the dock, the helper said i coulda taken them to atlanta, about 300 miles, and got about 1.50 lb i think it was, about enough to pay for the trip. Too bad I hadn't hanged on to those, and just brought them on the 600 mile move, but it was at the time a relief getting rid of them. That was only a little over 5 years ago
