I was told for sure several didn't work but they look to be in good shape cosmetically
If not are the board inside worth anything, My procedure before was just bust the glass, plastic etc off and throw in with shred, AM I MISSING SOMETHING

There is resale value in the LCD monitors 15" and above. Typically the cables cant bet cut, no screen bleeding, no missing bases. I don't know much about the market around you but you should expect to see around $5.00 per unit if I had to guess.
Are you throwing the glass and plastic in the shred?
No I was removing glass and plastic and shredding the rest....Is it just a low grade board inside?
not sure what your current board buyer is classifying those as.
Depending on the LCD type you may be sending CFL bulbs, and/or mercury to the shredder.
What would be the proper way to recycle these???

Those are more than likely first generation consumer LCD monitors. These are more suspect for containing mercury.Quote:

Theres some nice boards, not very big but they do have Gold on them. So I'd guess that they are high grade, except for the power supply board.
I have read about people frequently making a repair on these for about 5 dollars or so. The just replace the LED backlight lamp. It sounds easy but I have not done it myself.
Ive seen everything form low grade boards to very high grade boards in them. What you are really looking for are the boards that are really thin that have a finger on one side of the board that runs the entire legnth of the board those are what i call lcd boards. If you need help moving those let me know i have info on buyers. The boards also have some gold mylar with them and it is extremely valuable.

From my experience lcd monitors/tvs are not worth $3-$5 each. The most ive ever gotten out of one in scrap was $3 worth and that was from a 42". There was a low grade board a mid grade board and a thin high grade board plus a little bit of copper wiring and about 20 pounds of shred. I would not pay more than $1 each for lcd/plasma tvs/monitors. I think the yard is taking a loss at $3-$5 each, but they might sell them to someone that repairs them or buys them for parts so its hard to tell.
I remember seeing a 'back lit motherboard wallhanging art' picture once. I can't find it or anything like it in google.
The pics I can find are just motherboard parts glued to, well anything, even cars........
The main point was that they were backlit & so you got to see all of the traces & colours in the board. A boring old MB, when backlit, turns into a really complex eye catching display.
It was a few days ago I relised that its the perfect use for a broken LCD flatscreen Tv. Even after taking all of the gold boards out.
Keep the power supply & the flouro tubes & their driver & all of the plastic sheets (which I'm using to wrap up presents this Christmas!) in place & intact & place the MB's over it.
Ask your yard. Mine will buy them as shred.
I see lots of 5 working dell flat screens in good shape go for ~$80 at auction all the time.
