My name is Rich or woodlandrich, this is new to me on scraping computer parts and electronics. I do scrap copper , alum, brass, red brass. But now I came into a bunch of electronics some new and a lot of old radios no one wants to buy, what I can see is a lot of the dials have silver on them they are tarnished, at least I hope it is. I have so much going threw my head with this stuff and want to get a idea of what to do with it, Thanks for the add to this site..
Welcome to the forum Rich. E- scrap can be very confusing at first, take your time and don't let yourself get overwelmed. Best thing to do right now is read evry thread and post on e-scrap that you can find on this forum, thiere is a welth of information here. Her is your first lesson, I don't know what you mean by dials that have silver on them, but silver dosn't tarnish, might be brass or copper, scrape the tarnish off to check it. Anyway my advise is READ-READ AND READ SOME MORE. Also check out the buyers and sellers section, some of the buyers here on the forum are very helpfull but they want you to do some of your own research first. hello rich, as far as i know, silver will definitely tarnish. Do the radios have tubes, or transistors?
They have tubes, also is their any metal worth in the tubes worth messing with.
No but the many of the tubes are collectable as are the radios. Try to identify the make and model and then do a search on ebay. Mike.
Thanks that will save me some time, some of those tubes are new and in the boxes that they where packed in.
new tubes still have value with collectors trying to put their radio's & tv's back to like new condition.Quote:

The guy who repaired these tv's from broke to working cond. passed away and his family took all they wanted and left the rest, I just cleaned it up for my buddy and it took 3 months just to clean a trailer home, a lot of stuff and 2 sheds, they weren't in any cases they where just on tables. no working tv's just tubes of different sizes and shapes.
