Try selling it for parts first. If that doesn't work, there's probably a circuit board in the number pad, a lot of small motors, some wiring, and the steel case. Don't forget to check the thing for change.
It's definitely worth it. Even if you don't completely strip it down, there's still a lot of weight in the steel. Let us know how it goes and post pictures
Fridge on roids.
Dose it work, or maybe you could get it fixed cheap. You could try to sell it, they great for a man cave or a shop if not scrap it same as a frig.
the bill changers are worth quite a bit (From what I understand) might research them on eBay
parts are worth something on ebay...bill/coin accepter are worth a good chunk of change on ebay... motors should bring more on ebay/ cl; than as scrap.
I broke down a old roached-out coke machine from the 70's a few years ago. It was basically a fridge with a big hunk of steel on the front. It had lots of steel, the compressor, a small radiator, little bit of copper tubing, some wire, and a few small copper relays, and lots of spider webs and dead bugs. It was a while ago, but I think it turned into about $40-50 for an hours work.
Had the Joy of scrapping one of these before. Took off the copper and what not because it was in poor poor shape, but when i crossed the scale with just the machine it was around 400#. which was a good haul for me. I dont remember the amount of copper though. That went into my copper bin. Who knows how much was in there. it was almost a year ago anyways! Just my $.02.

I have only done one vending machine. I sold most of the advertising, emptied the coin accepter, and scrapped the rest. There was quite a bit of insulated wiring, and all of the spin rods were stainless steel.
