I am thinking about buying a new trailer. A bigger one. Right now I got a aluminum 14’.It works great for appliances but it gets overloaded ever time it’s loaded with metal. I have a F250 diesel and could possibly get a gooseneck hitch. I was thinking about a 18’ dump with 4’ walls but there like 6,000 so I didn’t. What trailer do you guys have? What works the best?
and what's the advantage of the gooseneck over the bumper pull?
I'm looking into also getting a new trailer. I want at least a 14' dump. But it will be parked in a driveway. So how much extra room would the gooseneck take up compared to the bumper pull?
Turning radius is the big advantage of a gooseneck. Disadvantage is you loose your truck bed. Also a goosneck puts the weight of the trailer over the axle instead of on the bumper.
Where are you finding an 18' dump for $6,000?
Having towed bumper pull and gooseneck, I prefer the gooseneck. If you have a turnover ball you still have use of the bed.
My last truck had a bed slide and a GN ball.
Yeah when trailer not hooked to the truck. When I said loss of use of bed I ment when pulling trailer. With a bumper pull you can fill the truck and trailer with scrap. I dont think I would want to put a washer in the bed of a truck with a gooseneck hooked up and have to take a corner and send said washer threw my back window.Quote:

When parking in a driveway, what would be the length difference of say a 14' trailer.
Would a bumper pull take up 16' as a gooseneck take up 18' or something?
And which one would be better on an inclined driveway while not attached to a truck?
My truck has all three hitches in it right now. Goosneck ball, 5th wheel hitch rails, and a bumber hitch. Do they even make the old style gooseneck balls with the huge plates anymore? Also I saw something cool my buddy go for his 5th wheel trailer. Its a 5th wheel hitch that attaches to the gooseneck ball socket without an adapter.
First of all when talking trialer lengths. They are usualy talking about the length of the bed of the trailer. Not tongue to tail. Or hitch to tail in case of gooseneck. So on average a gooseneck trailer will be ruffly 3 feet longer in the same size trailer.Quote:

Gooseneck just pulls alot nicer, especially if the load is front or back heavy, and especially if your tow vehicle is single rear wheel. Also when backing, it will turn 90 degrees, plus a little, compared to 45-60 on a bumper pull. I have a 25 foot GN with dove tail. And, when hauling cars, you can use the neck to prop up one end of an additional car. I live WAY out in the sticks, so a trip to the iron/car yard means a 60 mile one way trip down the highway, so I much prefer the gooseneck wgen gopingto the yard. Also have a 16' utility trailer....great for smaller local jobs, a 14' car trailer with open center, and 2 pickup box trailers....free advice.....wish I had gone 3/4 ton on those, instead of 1/2 ton.
Hey cf on your pickup bed trailers. get one of these setups and those things will haul anything.

Love how the gooseneck pulls hate how it pretty much kills the use of your bed from the fender well back
Yeah the pulling is awesome. Gooeneck gets rid of almost all the bobbing a bumper pull has. I say almost because if you load it back heavy you will be a little bouncy :)
