looks like our bid is a go
so here is the question
appx: 400 ton of alu + #2 iron over the next 12 months lets say half and half 200 T cast alu 200 T lt iron.
can I sell this direct to foundry ? or if not who else. I need to get my numbers down.
I realize the numbers will change over the year but I need to get a bid on todays numbers to put it in perspective.
how do I do this, I'm in over my pay grade here.
those arent big loads, those are monstrous loads! I think you have a few hundred thousand dollars in handling.
I know ? best we can figgure is 30 loads. semi type. we will use freight and gay lords for yours instead of fedex unless you have a better Idea. pm me. if you do.
Whoa! WHoa! WHOA! Not trying to sound negative, but you're talking about 33 ton a month! Unless you have the inside track on this one, are you going to be able to turn that much material, and make a profit if you have to sell it to a random yard? Can you logistically handle that much material? Where's it coming from, where's it going to, will you need to unload it, then reload it? There is no way you're going to run that much material by hand, right?
I'm not trying to be negative (Even though I think I am being negative), I'm just trying to call out all of the things for you to think about......
Im already in the black on the escrap part and am working on maximising the profit on the alu and iron. I am also in the black there. but am trying to maximize. the material will come at the rate of about 20 T monthly so it is not as boggeling as it seems.

Oldude, im sorry I was under impression that it was a done deal, it was yours. I appoligize. I was trying to help fellow scrapper. Yes if its prepared to their specs, mills will buy it but usually only through a "buyer". Again, Congrats on your score.

I dont handle the bidding my partner does. he handles aquisition and finance, I handle disposal, break down and, distribution. he has years of experience in his part, me in the other.
Guess i need to find me one of those.

Lease a trailer. You get around inspections and dot problems the trailer is maintained by the leaser. Contract the hauling to a freight hauler.
Grats i am overjoyed to see that your ship has come in.Can this stuff be palletized and loaded with a forklift? I know a guy with semis and flatbeds that might be interested if its going to stay within the state i could put you in touch with him.
The demon in large loads is the trucking, you can certainly get the interest of end users (especially if you can steadily provide those kind of numbers). Your ace in the hole is contacting flatbed truckers (via a trucking terminal that routes loads) and looking for dead-headers or partials. $4.00plus diesel forces them to make every mile pay. Mostly owner/operators they can handle odd loads and are much better to deal with than corporate prima-donna van drivers. Get communication going early. Great score, had a few whales myself over the years and learned the hard way when trucking ate all the profit. Best of luck!!
Flatbed?? Seems to me you need an open top high sider for that much, your looking at 40,000 lbs per load. That would be about two loads per month.
