I don't strip it, I sell it as is.
EDIT:
Okay. If you know it is stolen, but still want to scrap it, you are making a horrible and terrible error in judgment. It is inherently wrong. METAL THEFT IS HORRIBLE AND MAKES EVERYBODY WHO IS LEGIT SEEM UNTRUSTWORTHY.
yeah, really thin wire compared to the jacket. I would not strip it either.
i have probably a couple hundred feet will they think i stole it
thanks everybody i found this in the woods across from me and i was amazed it should be decent money
just bring it back as is. Ive NEVER been questioned on anything ive ever brought back... even burned copper wire
In charleston Sc several days ago they arrested a man for having 1 Just 1 dryer cord
it was stolen, but not by me it was stolen by a kid in my school from verizon
Ever hear the term - "Receiving stolen property"? You just publicly acknowledged that it was stolen.
That's one way to keep them out of the donut shops,,,:DQuote:
cops stay at the scrap yard with road blocks at every entrance of the yards
I do road construction for a living and we get a boatload of it every year. The scapyards here say if the telephone line is bigger than 2 inches usually better to scrap as is. We got $1.95/lb this last fall as is. Didn't have to mess with the goo. If it is smaller I burn it off.
The kid stole it with a friend. They left it at the friends place and the friend got into trouble with cops. So the other kid walked through the woods at night to get it so that the kid would not get in trouble for having stolen property. On his way he had to drop one of the 5 that they stole. Because of that, I was able to get it.
It seems that you're just not "getting it". It doesn't matter WHO stole it or how you came to have it. The only thing that matters is that you HAVE IT. That makes you liable to being charged with "Receiving Stolen Goods" or similar. If you sell it or even TRY to sell it and they call the police and it is found in your possession, you're screwed.
If you know where it came from maybe give them a call and explain the circumstances...They may say keep it or who knows it could open some doors for you and you end up with more booty. Worse case they want it back but at least you don't have to worry about getting busted.
