Pictures please?
I don't think he can post a picture with his first post on the forum.
I have found die cast zinc casings on some electronics.
I cant post a pic, wheres the option?
Is it because i'm on a phone?
Octagon shape about 2.5 inch across, 7 inches long, holes drilled along side, hole drilled thru long ways, one side is hollowed out about a third of the way up.
1 post required to post links/images/video (that's how it's supposed to work anyway)
Not magnetic, tan-colored. Heavy. Have you tried a "spark test"?
I'm thinking that's the really expensive rare metal from Homeous Interiorous, or Pierione Oneolgna..... very expensive Kentucky Chrome Painted Ceramic. Some of that stuff can go for 5 bucks a lb!!!!
It's painted ceramic... like painted brass statues... it probably held flowers, or little metal "arms" in the holes. You see a lot of this stuff at the second hand shops/ Goodwill's.
ceramics were used in older electronics, but it6 would help to know what kind of electronics.
Have no idea what they came out of, im tryin to post another pick,
Just bring it to your yard and let them test it with the gun.
Could be billet aluminum..??
Looks like brass at the grind mark, but you said it powdered when you grinded it. I am going to guess its some type of ceramic or resin material.
I'd toss it in my brass bucket and call it a day. What's the worst that could happen. :)
Looks like a big chunk of billet aluminum. Everyone says "bring it to the yard and let them test it with the gun". Sorry but in 2 years and at least a hundred trips to 10 different scrap yards I have never seen a "gun". One yard has a serious metal shredder they send cars through etc and they don't have a gun either.
Not saying they don't exist I'm just not sure it is the right answer since it seems as though most yards don't have XRF Guns.
