Does not look like a Pontiac bumper to me, but if I was always right I would be a millionaire. Most of the 60's bumpers were solid. Dodge, Chrysler, and Jeep used these styles as grill, radiator, or air flow guards above the bumper. Wish I could help.Quote:

Looks like plastic or rubber to me and they did not use that back in the 60's. Those (60's era) were good hard steel. Mid-late 70's is when it started.
Edit; Gave it a closer look and I guess it is steel.
Ya I've been looking at different big body old cars. Can find anything. Only reason why I'm saying its a GM bumper is because every part around it was for a gm
It does look like a 60s Buick lasabor but doesn't ha e that piece of steel in the middle but this bumper is from ks which mean one lisence plate.
I'm not sure, but I keep looking at the picture and it keeps saying Dodge to me. Might be a bit older if it is heavy gauge metal.
I'm leaning toward Dodge as I have seen many Dodge vehicles around Minnesota over the years as Dodge had early dealerships in Minn.
I'm just taking a guess at it as I'm not sure at all. It is a mystery looking bumper. Could even be for something foreign.
It looks more like a light truck bumper then a car bumper to me.
I thought of this. Try and figure out what the frame width at the front would of been and go from there. If it's heavy gauge metal I would place it's age in the 40's or so. Look at the front bumper designs on 30's through early 40's light trucks.
What makes me think dodge is it has a FAT look to it and that was something Dodge liked doing to be different but the same,lol.
But it could be from a English car or such also. It reminds me of many types of light truck bumpers from those years but as I said, has a FAT look about it.
There was a vw gas tank in the pile too lol
It will be interesting if the mystery can be solved as there are so many bumpers that were made and used.
I do find it a ODD design as it's shape and chevron curve seems weird for such a bumper style.
What I'm saying is that it looks like a design that should be mostly flat with little or no curve from the ends toward the middle and the extra flare at the edges.
or have the center area point out much more then it does.
Look over the front bumper pictures of the 30's and 40's and you will see what I mean about shapes and such.
It seems a odd MIXTURE of style and design. like a mix of year style. Looks old yet not as it has a slightly ART DECO thing going on.
I find it a interesting mystery.
They just don't make sexy a$$ bumpers like they did back in the day...bumpers today are safer, you bet, but boring to say the least.

i searched about 100 cars on that site can't find nothing. I'm about to go to a place that restores cars and see what they say.
It could be from a foreign vehicle. Are you sure that it's not from a VW? I don't believe it is, but I'm not sure as it's a ODD looking bumper to me.
A bit like what they call a "Bi-gender" these daze.
Measure the distance that the frame would of been and just how long/wide it is as then you can start to figure out what size the vehicle it came off of may of been.
I find it a interesting mystery.
I have some odd parts around the yard. People would get a odd part from elsewhere and never use it and I would end up with it.
the bumper is 76" from the outside of the bumper the gap is to small to put my fist through. The 59 old 98 looks similar but this bumper is all flat on the top and bottom.
I've been searching for the answer to this puzzle, no luck. But its been fun looking at all the old cars.
I've started looking at trucks. ????

Thanks to my dad he had a old catalog with all Classic car bumpers in it. My dad is my go to guy with question. Won't ever ask him for help because he is a huge flake but he knows his car stuff if he doesn't he will find it out.Quote:
