Another thread made me think of a question. Does anyone here use/have experience with using a wire granulator? I work for a scrap metal company, and we strip our #1 wire with a cable stripper. However, we just ship out our #2 as insulated, doing nothing to process it. So that leads me to my question. Anyone have experience using a cable granulator on finer wire, say something like automotive wiring harness or computer bus cable? Any replies are appreciated.

Thanks Mike, I guess I should read all of the forums! But wow, 200k for a granulator?!?!?!? Dang, that's WAY out of our range sadly. I've just started doing more research on this, as to be honest, I never even knew such machines existed until a few days ago. Hopefully I'll be able to find something that works on the finer wire, that we can actually afford.Quote:

zito, you might try contacting him(in that link) and see if he's using the granulator or maybe has some experiences to relate; or is he just blowing smoke up our skirts???
I can't see any reason it wouldn't be legit; today the cheapest price I could find on the smallest, entry-level granulator I saw was 35k :eek: The next couple of models in line were getting around 70k (like, holeeee cow!) and were nowhere near the biggest/fanciest machines available from that manufacturer! I didn't even ask about the bigger machines.Quote:

Be careful with companies making vague statements like this as this could mean anywhere from 0-100%. I'd ask them for more reliable stats before purchasing. Hopefully it's still good but be careful, the market is flooded with people trying to make money off other people who in turn are trying to make money.

i would imagine most granulator companies will finance their machines, but that midas from UK looks pretty nice for the price, thats about $12,233. plus a little shipping to skip that little guy across the pond. how much wire would you have to chop to cover a monthly finance payment
You guys do realize that the item Ballymoss linked to is just the air separation system don't you?. Read further down in the description........"Our systems require the addition of a granulator and a dust extraction system."

I purchased a granulator a little over a year ago. Must say its a neat machine, was amazed at it's capabilities. I can honestly say it will recover close to 99 percent. general loss of material is copper dust/flakes. machine matinence is key, Not the type of machine you want to cheap out on. I have run everything from small cable (2/0)-34ga communications wire. smaller wire I process into 2mm. granules. Hope I shined some light on the subject.
Rewire, I am very interested in a granulator. You did not mention the brand model you own. How much you can process with it. Others you considered and rejected and why. So get out your flashlight and shed some more light please.

Also very interested in name brand. Been researching for about a year, I have my favorite in mind but would like to talk to someone that has one.
guidetti recycling equipment, made in Italy. I have the ekro micro, which will process 100lbs/hr. When I have more time I will do the intro. I work 60 hours a week for union, process when I get home/sunday. my apologies for being blunt, only so many hours in a day. till next time sean
That is the one I am going to purchase. It was the micro or the sincro315c. At least there is one person out there that owns one and really likes it. I own a wire stripper from them and Love it. Thanks for the info.
