NEC NEAXMail AD-64 voice mail/auto attendant breakdown

Here is a quick break down of an NEC NEAXMail AD-64 voice mail/auto attendant. This was given to me under the condition it would be rendered useless so here goes.

Typical Dell PC on the left with NEC voice mail software loaded on it. These PC’s integrate with NEC phone systems using dialogic cards that usually go in the PCI slots of the mother board. Because this was a 16 port system an expansion PC was needed. Expansion PC is on the right.

Opening the NEC voice mail and removing the contents. It looks the same as any other Dell PC except for the PCI expansion board.

PCI expansion board from the Dell.

The next two pics show the inside and back of the expansion PC.

There wasn’t much in the expansion PC except a power supply, a PCI expansion interface and 4 dialogic cards that supplied the 16 ports for the voice mail.

The last pic shows the plugs that connect the two PC’s. The board on the left is from the Dell voice mail and the boards on the right are from the Expansion PC. I couldn’t find the cable that connected the two and I’m not really sure what type of connector it is.
