Actually, bear, He was talking MY ear off NOT the other way around.

I probably spoke a total of 5 minutes the whole time.

it was still your option alone, whether to stay or go, wasn't it you at his place? How can you feel he wasted 2 and 1/2 hours of your time when the option to leave was yours and yours alone? I've had people pick up their computer after I'd fixed it, and hang around talking for 3 hours. Of course I had other things to be doing, and didn't have the option to leave, maybe I didn't care for it much but I didn't get mad at them, actually they turned out to be good friends

Had a very similar situation myself last fall. Young man said he had a couple trailer houses for salvage. I don't do ''trailer houses'' but I could have the axles and frames if I wanted them. I agreed to do it and then found out later that they were also buried. I had enough work to do anyhow but felt jilted by the whole affair. He could have had the frames/axles pushed aside for me but that would probably have created a big headache for the contractor and the young man was preparing to move another / better trailer near the site so needed the area cleared. It was a shame that there's $$$$ under the ground now.

In my previous response I wrote report him!
I hope you did not take that seriously. The guys on here all bring up excellent points if I was in your shoes I would chalk this up as a learning experience. I would have come back the very next day and not waited on his call it happens so very often you snooze you lose. Oh and if you have reported him You deserve whatever comes your way. What comes around goes around. Just remember this!

I will say this. Timing is everything. I think you should have gotten back sooner. What I mean is that day you could have left and gotten a trail and started picking up what you could lift. Strike while the iron is hot. Why would you report the old man? You sound upset you did not get the load. Chalk it up as a loss. There is a saying SGS!
