Curbside picking

I recently was driving along and spotted 2 fridges a house apart. However a scrapper was at one already so I went to the next one. He came running at me yelling that it was his and I couldn't have it. Not looking to get into a fight I left.
What do you guys think? My opinion is if its not in your truck or your not in the process of loading it its fair game.

Next time, pee on the fridge while looking him in the eye and say, "this is my territory now b****"

I was dumpster diving one time and a guy came up to me and said "have you been taking my aluminum cans?" I ask him if his name was "BUD" he said "NO" I said "No I havn't been taking your cans" He just walked away.

i seen two guys throw knuckles over a microwave. they were also pushing shopping carts.

We could start a new tv show "Scrapper Wars"

Yeah .... a couple of scrappers around here got into it a few months ago. Now there's a scrap war going on.

It's like .... C'mon guys .... take a deep breath and step back ..... You're fighting over the trash.

I know there would be a fistful of quarters for that one. I believe in being a good sport. Id say "hey, im going to snatch the compressor and wires and save you the labor. See we can split it and compromise .

No need to be confrontational. Perhaps there are other avenues of trade the two of you can network on, team up for large projects/contracts. An open hand can yield much potential.

So you would just release the refrigerant illegally!

This has happened to me a few times, one time I got to a pile of scrap the same time as the other guy, so we decided he'd take the power tools and aluminum and I'd take the computers and wire. Then some guy in a car passes by and calls us "human raccoons" lol.

In my experience fridges 99% of the time never have any refrigerant left actually.

There is a proper and legal way to be sure.

Well you know I must agree I have only done like four fridges ever and now that I think about it they never made the same noise that the AC compressors did, so I suppose they were empty. When it comes to the handful of A/C compressors though, I plead the fifth. Lets be real and honest here though, not too many scrappers are being considerate of EPA air pollution regulations though. Usually only those in the HVAC profession even bother. Seen it with my own eyes. with many others.

But jut for the spirit of compromise, what would it take to release it the proper way, as I do prefer to follow the law if I were ever in such a circumstance.

What do base that statement on. Refrigerants are not released, they are recovered.
Its illegal.to say most scrappers do it shows you have not spent anytime researching this topic. If you did you'd know that most scrappers don't do it your way.
You insult every member on here with a statement like that.
Many members have ponied up and gotten the proper creds and equipment to do it responsibly including myself.
People that do it your way,which isn't a majority like you think makes us all look bad.

Unbelievable! We've got a new member here and another that's been here a year and both feel it is OK to release refrigerant.
If you can't handle it right, leave it to someone who can!
Take the time to get certified. Spend the money for a proper recovery setup. Don't mess it up for the ones (me included) that do this right and spent 1 to 2 thousand to be able to do it.
