your prices look very good, im gonna have to see what i can come up with
I'm still on the fence with what I want to do with my stash of dual core/p4 notebooks... probably going to send at least 7 or 8 of them and some RAM to ROK in the near future. I'll let y'all know how it goes.
I'll ask a quickie while I'm writing :
When it comes to dual core notebooks, how would you price one (say, an HP pavilion dv6) that was missing RAM, battery, and HD? Everything else there, though, and screen is good. Also missing some screws, but if it matters I'm sure I can find a few replacements.
Just did my first small load of laptop batteries and cell phones. Very quick to answer questions, very patient and quick on processing and payment(I asked for a check and it was under a week to process my package to check receipt. I don't often get cell phones\batteries in my travels, but if I do they are going to ROK based on the great service. (Also I should mention I preweighed everything and they were spot on, on their weights!)
Well i sold my first small load to ROK recycling today, it was a smooth transaction (actually got paid before my product was even shipped!). Randy was a big help in making the process easy so i just wanted to thank you and let you know i will be sending more buisness your way.
A couple of things that we have been asked repeatedly in PMs that I thought I would post. We keep getting asked what information should be sent with the package. Mostly, we want to make sure that we know who sent the product, how to pay you, how to contact you and that you are an SMF member.
Please include the following information clearly.
Name, address, email address and a phone number. That way we can easily contact you if we need to do so.
How you want to be paid. If paypal, make sure to include the paypal address. If check, make sure we know how to address it and where to send it.
Please make sure we know you are with SMF as we pay higher prices for SMF Members.
Finally, while not required, it helps to know what is in the box. If you think there are 20 pounds of phones and we only find 4 pounds, I would rather know before everything gets fully processed.
Randy
For those of you who do not know, we have been growing rapidly the past 6 months, partially due to the support of the SMF and its members. About 5 weeks ago we started getting some larger space in the warehouse we share with 2 other family companies ready for us to take it over. We got the space ready only to wait and wait for the contractor. Finally, we could not wait any longer, so we moved into it and got everything set up. The day we got everything set up, the contractor arrived to start the renovations. Out came everything. That was a week ago Monday. We finally got our space back this past Monday. Meanwhile, we have tried to keep processing as we normally do. Meanwhile, we got really slammed with incoming product this week. As a result, some of the orders we have received have not been processed as quickly as we would have preferred despite working some insane hours. For those of you who are waiting, my sincere apologies and thank you for your patience. We expect by the end of this coming week to be back to our organized, efficient selves.
Based on reading this thread , as a beginner scrapper I would use ROK and would not be fearful of the items he buys. Thanks to all you posted their feedback. It was helpful to me.
HELP PLEASE!!!
Someone sent in a package that arrived late Friday. The box got wet and the only address information was on an index card in the box. We can not read most of the card. The person is from San Pablo and it looks like their last name is Combe. Would that person please contact me at 410-969-1877 during normal business hours so that we can get you paid. Thanks.
I went to Maryland today and met Randy at ROK. Sold 60 plus laptops, cell phones, power supplies some batteries and a few other misc. things. Every thing went great Randy looked through my stuff and did an inventory and his guy put the stuff on the scale. Cut me a check and I was on my way. I would recommend using ROK I know I will visit again.
Its ME, its Me, rofl.
I had not heard anything from him since I sent the small package to MD on Weds 17. Being a small fish in this big ocean of e-waste recyclers, I figured that they would get around to processing my meager 11lbs of stuff, sooner or later. Today, Oct 26, I decided to give Randy a bell (a call on the phone for you "colonials" :-) )
Randy was GREAT, he explained what had happened at their end, asked for a confirmation e-mail and said he would take care of things pronto.
Thanks Randy and also to the rest of the staff at ROK.
Thanks ROK. Super service will do business again highly recomended!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
New Higher Prices for Batteries:
First let me remind everyone that both li-ion cell phone and li-ion laptop batteries really should be taped prior to shipping them. They do present a potential fire hazard when they are not taped. Never ship them in any manner which may be air freighted, especially if they are not taped. If two li-ion terminals touch, it can cause a fire. With that in mind, we are now offering prices for taped and untaped batteries. We will also no longer offer shipping labels if the shipment includes untaped batteries. We will still buy them buy you will have to handle the shipping.
We are now offering $2.00 per pound for taped Li-ion laptop batteries.
Li-ion cell phone batteries are divided into two types: internal and external. Internal batteries are the ones where there is a separate back to the phone. External batteries have the back included. Here is our pricing for taped li-ion cell phone batteries:
Internal: $2.00 per pound
External: $1.35 per pound
Mixed (at least 2/3 internal): $1.60 per pound.
We will now also offer $5.40 per pound for phones with backs and batteries.
Thanks again to everyone on the Forum. You have been great. We wish everyone an amazing Thanksgiving.

Trimmed Finger boards....we are going to have to stop taking these for a while. Our processor stopped taking them for a while. Sorry about this.
when u say taped how do we tape them........The whole thing or just the connector part??
"If two li-ion terminals touch, it can cause a fire." (post #52)
I'd guess taping over the terminals to prevent contact
Bear is right. Just some tape to cover the terminal so that two of them can not touch. Thanks.
Looks like I will be sending out some laptop and phone batteries to you soon.
Trying to get someone at ROK. Just got duped by the infamous CJ Environmental. Have some more things to send out
It's a shame you did not get here sooner, we just got done talking about them (and all their alias's) again. If it was enough $ wise, do like one of our members did and have your lawyer send them a letter and they will change their tune and up your payout, don't give up on them and "roll over".
There's even a letter here somewhere from one of their disgruntled ex-employees. It tells of the way they do business and the different steps of the pay-outs.
