Scrap carbide / tungsten

Very good video, will be on the look out for carbide. Is carbide the only metal you buy? How about Tungsten?

How about heating elements?

Great video! Had a lot of very useful information. Never knew carbide was slightly magnetic. I'm going to hunt around some used tool stores now with my magnet.

no on the heating elements......there is a very very small amount of carbide if any at all on those.

Where else is carbide found ? Is there any in automobile parts, Pumps, Applainces? etc.......

carbide is usually not used as parts in anything do to it being to heavy and brittle. Its really only used to make parts in large quantities due to it lasting so long for that process. machine shops, manufacturing plants, scrap yards, mining industry. Usually people just call machine shops and find it plus scrap yards always have it and dont know what it is or what its worth, we went to every scrap yard around us and they all had it nicely separated and there jaw dropped when we told them what it was worth.

How about the carbide circular saw blades? Do you buy them whole and if so what price?

carbide mining tips are always brazed onto a steel holder but there is no way the center is steel....when they make a mining tip it takes an unholy amount of pressure and 5200 degrees. If there was steel in the center it would disintegrate instantly.

just found out that those giant commercial snow plows have carbide blades that they change frequently so all you guys in the north might want to look into that.....a company just sent us 1500 lbs worth and that was an independent company so just imagine how much the city plows have.

Except for tooling tips & drill bits the only other use I know of is train brake pads. (since I saw a picture of one once) they clamp down onto each side of the train rail track & act a brakes.
Though they could be emergancy brakes only.

I suggest, start looking for tungsten carbide websites & see what they make parts for.

price has increased. Also we have no sorting fees ( we never have ) but almost all of our competitors have one and don't say anything about it until you get your reduced check in the mail.
