Can you please advise what you mean by Long Caps?

These things? I have always wondered about them, figured they were 'Resistor arrays', maybe not...

Are these above tantulum.......This is one nut I have yet to crack but hopefully these are
bump does anyone know?......If they are not I'll just toss them in shred I guess
I say yes but I would hang on to them until Tantalum Recycling responds.
I would also like to know. I have some, too. My Spragues are differently colored but are the same shape and marked with a "+." I've noticed they squish a little bit in the pliers so I wasn't sure.
If they squish with pliers, no. But Mike's look right, they have the little solder blobs on each end...
I guess its the weekend.......Perhaps someone who actually buys these will chime in.....LOL
Hey Mike give them the old magnet test . One side should be magnetic and the other side will not be. Thats what I do when I get into that situation with the questionable ones. Been right every time lol
well they seem to be lightly magnetic on one side and not at all on the other so I'm guessing yes.......Which pay grade are these?
Mike - I would say you have tantalum solid electrolyte capacitors. 152D "Tantalex" type made by Sprague (now Vishay). These come in four case sizes (A, B, R, S,). With the following dimensions:
A - diameter 0.135, length 0.286
B - diameter 0.185, length 0.474
R - diameter 0.289, length 0.686
S - diameter 0.351, length 0.786
Dimensions are in inches and length is for case only (don't measure leads). Should be abel to measure to verify, hope this helps.
Do you buy the big capacitors from microwaves?
Even with the pics I still find it confusing on what to remove... I want to do this as well

As long as we are ID'ing things, here are my little weirdos. The little red one seems to be obvious (magnetic, plus signs, 16v markings) but the others are less clear.
The yellow one has a "+" but is non-magnetic. Markings: WHITD/20VDC/HK7319
The sky blue one has several plus signs on the magnetic lead end but does pinch in the pliers. Markings: RICHEY/15V/52-7335
The dark blue one is hard to read but there are plus signs. Markings: 63V/016
The big silver one has a few plus signs and no magnetic end. Markings: M235/20v/7331A
The little silver one at the top may not even be a cap. It's the smallest of these things from this particular teardown. However, the others are as big as the dark blue cap shown so it seemed unlikely that it was a diode. Markings: 2,8n H
I apologize if this is not interesting to anyone on this thread. I had thought, at first, to just PM this to the buyer. But since so many posts seem to indicate ongoing uncertainty about what is or isn't tantalum, I decided to just put it out there for everyone's reference.
