    Freight Services

Are you all tired of paying high freight prices on your LTL and TL shipments? If you have say 300 lbs you want to ship and have a way to put on a pallet and attach the shipment to the pallet I may be able to save you a few dollars. Of course the more weight you ship the cheaper the cost per pound. If you would like a quote you can email me at gorven@comcast.net or call me at 814-443-6389.

I have been ask in many conversations what information do I need to get a quote? So Below is the information that I need to give a accurate quote.

    1. Origin Zipcode and Destination Zipcode

    2. Weight if you have it if not a close estimate will get you a idea of cost.

    3. Commercial or Residential Address

    4. If commercial address do you have a dock or a forklift if not no problem we send a liftgate equipped trailer

5 If residential is there easy access to your house?

    6. Residential needing a liftgate is the highest rated freight in the LTL shipping business. My suggestion if possible is load on your truck or trailer and take to the trucking companies loading dock. Doing that gives the same rate as a commercial address with loading dock.

    7. Dimensions of Pallet

When ready to ship I will need.

    1. Your address

    2. Telephone Number

    3. Email Address to send BOL and Address labels too

    4. All destination info

I recently shipped my first pallet with Terry. It definitely won't be my last.

I previously used the FedEx discount of a buyer on here. Terry was able to ship 1150 pounds for the same cost as 300 with FedEx.

    That's right- I shipped this:

for less than the cost of three regular boxes.

The service is prompt, polite, and pleasurable. Terry was more than willing to work with me every step of the way, and he made sure that everything was smooth as can be. He will do all of the hard work for you- you don't need to know anything about freight.

All I had to do was strap my boxes of scrap to a pallet. Terry took care of everything else. When I told him I was ready, he had a truck at my door the next day. By doing no harder work than I was before, Terry was able to add hundreds to my bottom line- on my first pallet!

Whenever anyone wants to ship a large lot to me, I'll recommend Terry. When I want to ship anything large- Terry will be my only call!

What kind of straps did you use? They look like plastic or rope!

They're rope. I added shrink wrap later.

If I can use rope to tie down entire gooseneck trailers of straw, I should be able to tie a few measly boxes, right?

I thought you didn't want to give them some free scrap steel by using steel straps! LOL Looks good!

Hey Matador, nice pallet ! Last time I shipped FEDEX to a buyer it was 6 boxes at 65 lbs each for around 22$ a box to ship.
Thats 390 lbs for $132.00 . I could have sent more- I ran out of good boxes. I am in CT so I guess my shipping charges would be a bit more
but I will check with Terry next time I put a load together. I don't have a fork lift at my shop so I'l also need lift gate service.
I am also working on getting a shop/warehouse to work out of that will have a dock and a forklift but that may or may not play out.
What was it that you shipped ? All sorts of e waste from broken down CPU'S ?

Most of the pallet was incomplete and complete laptops (Obsolete Pentium II and IIIs mostly). I did have over 100# of laptop batteries, 100# of incomplete hard drives, and about 70# of motherboards among other things.

By shipping freight, you may pay a little more, but the cost per pound will be less. This way, I was able to send more stuff. Normally, sending incomplete hard drives doesn't pay. But, I was able to send them and make a few bucks off of them by going the freight route.

As for boxes, check your recycling centers and the local stores. Our recycling center encourages people to take boxes- every box on that pallet came from the recycling center.

I don't have a dock at my office, either. That photo was taken by me standing in the alley. There are double doors that swing open, but that's it. You'll pay more for liftgate service, but it's a lot cheaper than owning a forklift. I can't modify that building too much (I rent there), so I can't add a dock. I'm moving into a larger facility, but this one works fine for moving pallets out. The driver came with a liftgate and a pallet jack. We had it in the truck in 2-3 minutes.

As for costs, it'll depend on where your buyer is. I'm in Wyoming, and the pallet went to Ohio- that's not exactly around the corner! All you can do is just ask and see. You were paying almost 34 cents per pound to ship- I think that freight could be less than that, depending on where it's going and how much there is. Terry will help you, though.

I put that pallet together over the course of 2-3 months. I did it at the end of the day and on slow days. Everything went well, though. Shrink wrap is probably ideal, though. We're farmers, so I've used rope to secure hundreds of loads of straw. It gets the job done, but wrapping is definitely easier.

Another tip- make sure to get a good pallet. Mine was damaged on one end, so I had to break out some wood and the tools to reinforce it. Instead of drilling holes for bolts, I'd rather be loading the pallet.

My fellow forum family I havent posted in awhile and didnt want you all to think I am not grateful for the members of this forum who have tried my services. I wish to thank you all for giving me the chance to serve your LTL needs and I hope those of you who havent tried my services give me a chance to do so. I will do my best to walk you threw your freight shipment and give you options if you dont have a commercial address to ship from. Again I thank you all that have used my service without the member of this forum the discounts I receive and share would not be possible.

Well i have moved the e-waste recycling to a new and separate location just so that the apples do not get mixed up with the oranges. Yesterday was the first day we shipped from the new location, I haven't gotten a fork lift delivered there yet, Of course i called Teri and explained that to him, no problem he said well it was no problem the trailer showed up and they had a huge tail gate, within minutes they loaded up and were gone. Dealing with Teri has become second nature to me. You call him and the next day the truck shows up, all the paper work is done, you just have to download the Bill OF Lading and attache it with the shrink wrap to the Gaylords. He also lets you use his account/accounts for the different trucking companies, so you have no up front freight charges. Teri is the guy that can help you get to the next level, Thanks again Teri for your excellent service 1956.

Is it possible to load a pallet into the truck without items on it and then put the items on it when its in the truck to avoid liftgate services? Thanks - Devin

Basically that is not permitted as the trucking companies frown on drivers being held at a pickup location longer then 15 minutes. In fact I was told by one feight carrier I would be charged a fee if the driver was heldup for longer then 15 minutes unless it is someting that was there fault like if I requested a liftgate and they didnt send. My recommendation would be build the pallet on your truck or trailer if you have one and take it to a freight carriers dock if there is one close that is and that receives the same price as commercial address with a dock/forklift.

I just used Terry's service for two shipments and got the excellent results I've come to expect. He is easy to work with and gets great rates, much better than with my own FedEx business account.

    Thanks Terry
