Exclamation Buying Catalaytic Converters, Key Fobs & More- 24 Hour Payments!

Scrap metal forum, allow me to introduce myself and our company. My name is Carl and our company ScrapYourCat.com wants to be your purchaser of scrap automotive catalyst. We have been browsing here for years, seeing the almost daily catalytic converter questions in the vehicle recycling forum. We understand that not everyone here has a strong buyer for their scrap catalytic converters, we aim to change this. We will treat you the same whether you have 1 or 1000 pieces to sell. We promise fair and accurate grading, helpful and available support for questions, and most of all fast 24 hour payments.

We have been in the automotive and catalyst recycling business for generations. We understand the markets, and we understand the frustrations smaller businesses and scrap peddlers face. Many, not all, catalytic converter buyers all over the country, have relied on dishonest grading, large margins, and "averaging" the categories to unsuspecting buyers. The fact that many buyers purchase entire groups of converters at one price, breadloaf for example, should be a tell tale sign. Catalytic converters are no different than many other auto parts, many may look the same, but they were engineered differently per each vehicles specifications. A transfer case from a Ram 1500 with a hemi may look the same, but it is surely not the same as one found on a V6 model. This holds true for converters as well, a large breadloaf converter from a 1994 Pontiac Grand Am looks the same as a large breadloaf from a 1999 Grand Am, but they certainly were built to different specs. While one may only be worth $75, the other may be worth $195, a very large margin. The only way to determine which is which, is to have the converters assayed separately and note the part numbers. This is how we grade, we leave little up to a matter of opinion, which in turn ensures you are getting an honest price for your converter, and puts more cash in your pocket.

We strive to provide excellent customer service, and we are here to answer any and all of your questions regarding your material. We promise, fast accurate payments, within 24 hours of receiving your converters. The accurate and increased prices you will receive for your catalytic converters, will more than make up for the shipping costs. Ever sold a converter to a scrap yard or core buyer and received $30? Only to find out later on it was worth $130? Send that same cat to us, and lets say we paid $130, subtract your shipping cost of approx. $10, and your $90 ahead.

We also purchase many other valuable items which scrappers, recycling yards and repair shops come across frequently. Key fobs, remotes, smart keys, injectors, ecm's etc. All with fast and accurate payments.

Our grading is one reason you will never see a price sheet from us with 15-20 categories. The variations in each number and model are so wide it would be dishonest for us to do so. We will be publishing a simple price sheet with ranges, special categories, and more. If you ever have a question or need a price we can be reached at Service@scrapyourcat.com or by phone at 1-570-591-0925, feel free to text us a picture for a price quote.

You gave a example of the breadloaf about them being different. But maybe 1 out of 100 or more might be worth that 195 so you cant go by that either and you end up getting less in the long run.

That simply is not correct and there is no way you would get less in the long run. Whoever your selling to is "averaging" the categories. The problem is, when these buyers average, it is always in there favor. Lets continue to use large breadloaf for example. There are approx. 130 different part numbers of large breadloaf, of these numbers 37 are worth over $180 each, 55 of them are worth aprox $90, another 38 or so are worth only $75. When a buyer averages the category and groups all breadloafs together they usually pay around the $90-95 range, so as you can see 2/3 of the part numbers are worth the same or more than the $90 they are paying. Furthermore, the buyer is only losing $15 or so on the bad numbers, but they are making upwards of $100 on the good numbers.
1999 Pontiac Grand Am over 80% of the time, the breadloaf on those cars is worth $135-$190, that's a big difference in your profit margins.

See, each converter is only worth whats inside, it dosnt matter what crazy name or story the buyer gives, at the end of the day each on was manufactured with a specific amount of Rhodium, Platinum and Palladium. Just as within the last few years, buyers have started with the High Grade Domestic category. Well what if I said that many of the converters in that category, which most buyers pay $80 or so for, are worth $90-$220. Yes there are "small domestics" that are worth $220, and none are worth less than what the buyers are already paying so it is a win-win situation.

No there arent 37 numbers worth 180 or whatever. You are just trying to say these big prices to get business.I have done this for 7 years and i am good friends with my core buyers.Yes he buys by the average you say ok.He then sells by average like you say.The guy then takes to the refiner and you say 37 part numbers are worth 180.The you tell me how he had 3 full gaylords which is quite a few breadloafs and only 2 where worth 180 lol.
Like i said and like i believe you are saying about these big numbers to get business and that is some shady bs.
I buy converters and can't stand shady people in the business.

I respectfully disagree, and if you would like I would be happy to send you all of the breadloaf part numbers with their corresponding price. I think you are not seeing the bigger picture here, if you have a breadloaf and you are going to sell it for $90, and I come along and offer you $160, how is this dishonest. I make it perfectly clear to all of my customers, I do not lump converters together in a few categories, I pay exactly what they are worth, therefore I make the same profit margin on every single converter I purchase. Breadloafs are the easiest for me to explain, but how about your ford cats? Right now the two "small domestics" off a 2000 ford explorer, I am paying $150 each, sure beats any small dom or highgrade dom price out there. Large flows, tahoes, and 454's all have true value ranges that are +- $100, some large flows are worth $220, most are worth $160, and there is 1 number which is only worth $90.

The way I see it, buying by number makes the converter business more honest. No longer is the grading up to your buyer, the number is stamped right on the cat and there is no changing that. We have been in this game over 30 years, back when all converters were sold by weight (beads/honeycomb), we have seen the number of categories change frequently. So my point is, if you send me a part# or picture and I give you a price that is higher than your local buyer, how is this shady? We would be more than happy to answer any of your pricing questions.

Radios, HVAC controls and instrument clusters are bought by number. Most range $15-$40, fords and chevys being most popular.

my buyer of cats also pays several different prices for the breadloaf converters...i have not sold any converters for around a year but last time i unloaded mine, the breadloafs were between 65 and 135...i have taken him several converters that look the same to me and it is rare i ever get the exact same price for any of them..

65 is the lowest ive got for the breadloaf type from him....it seems like the average price he gave me was closer to 90 or 100...i have got more for some ,,,id say every time i took him a load i would have a couple on the low side,,a couple on the high side,,,then the majority would be in the middle...

he is the highest paying core buyer in my area....most all the other cat buyers i know around my area actually buy them and sell them to this guy

I have a CAT from a Subaru Outback (I think). I can't seem to find any part number on it. Where would the number be and what is the price range on these?

    Thanks.

Usually there is no open information on the price of the personal autocatalysts. I can advise 4 references where you can see the current prices for your catalyst

    1. ecotradegroup.com
This is the oldest and most comprehensive database of catalyst numbers. About 15,000 unique exhaust's serial numbers.
Paid access, no data on car models.

    2. catalog.mairec.com
German database. About 5000 unique numbers. Free access, but need request for registration. Registration terms I don't know. Maybe you should be their client.

    3. fso.hu
Hungarian database. Free access. The database contains information on the serial numbers and car models.

    4. mycatalyst.ru
Belarus database. Free access. About 18000 records. Serial numbers and car models info after registration.

None of them are accurate. Once you get a price on a converter from for example Belarus, what do you do next? Ship it there?
