For laptops, how do ones with locked bios get handled?
The short answer: It depends on the model
The longer answer: Most of the computers I refurbish are sold locally, to people who don't even know what a BIOS is. If the BIOS is locked, but nothing is disabled (Such as WiFi or USB ports) and if I can install Windows on it without problems, it's a working PC and is good to go. If the BIOS is locked and needs to be unlocked, but can be unlocked with a little work, we dock for that. If it's locked, and the only way to make the laptop usable is through a motherboard replacement, it's a parts machine (May still be more than scrap, but that depends for model again of course)
I know you deal in higher volumes, so I'm assuming you're looking at a few machines that are the same model and BIOS?
*Overdue review(s)*
I've had several dealings with Wyatt since my last review. All different, all great!
Most recently, I kinda sheepishly (goatishly) approached him about a charity event for some underprivileged kids in need of donated laptops. Finger nervously poised over the send button, I'm thinking, "This is a busy guy, this is his livelihood and I'm asking him to donate it? :k Okay, worst he might say is no. It's for a good cause so it's worth a try!" SEND.........................
Wyatt's response: "No problem. How many do they need?"

Donated his time, skills, advice, made a special trip to deliver what he could on REALLY short notice and even volunteered to help with future events.
Interesting to discover that some of the stuff he buys from us on here goes to help less fortunate people. Although, I kind of suspected... ;)
I'm honored to be able to give back, and hope to be helping you out to get more laptops on their way in the next couple of months!
I tried to email but it bounced back. Is info@omegayellow.com still the correct email to contact you at?
It is, but for some reason, our hosting has had some weird problems this week. It should be back up shortly, but if you'd like, I can just PM you my personal E-Mail to use
New Prices are out today! The largest changes are RAM- I held off as long as I could, but prices for RAM are down some. Smaller hard drives are a little lower too. The outlook on future prices looks pretty stable. The next pricing changes will likely be around September.
i may be wrong but i clicked the price link and i see no prices only info to enter.
Go to the bottom of the page- there are tabs that you click on for the various items we commonly purchase ;)
Hi, can you please DM me an email that works? I have a list for your review, but keep getting an "Address not found" error when attempting to email you at info@omegayellow.com. Thank you.
I also tried emailing you. Let us know. Thanks!
clicked on your price list and only got the packing slip.
I've checked and fixed a couple of E-Mail settings, and the address should be live. If you get an error sending, feel free to use our E-Waste address (recycling@OmegaYellow.com).
As for the pricing list, at the bottom of the page, there are tabs for the different types of components (Such as RAM, Hard Drives, Processors, and the like). At the bottom of the page, click on the tab for what you'd like to see prices on for the page to change. If you can't get it to open for you, just let me know what you'd like a price check on, and I'll gladly pull the price for you!
I look forwards to working with you!
Thanks!
I've been out of the office for a couple days- did you get the PM I just sent you? If not, I'll send you an E-Mail. Isn't technology fun? ;)
Who am I kidding? If technology worked like it was supposed to, nobody would throw it out and we'd all be looking for work
You did. For some reason, my Sent messages never show in that folder either. I just copy them into Word and save them in case they didn't go
First shipment of MTSV Ram shipped 11/27, paid 12/18. Currently waiting on Ram testing breakdown report as of today. Several emails requesting payment status and Ram testing results breakdown were sent.
I am remaining neutral on buyer review because we all have issues beyond our control come up. To be fair and impartial I am also sending another shipment to buyer and will give final buyer review after 2nd transaction. Please do not let this review change your mind about sending product to this buyer, as I said before I am not hesitant about buyer and believe this is an isolated incident. Buyer did go out of his way to make payment to me using a different payment processor than PayPal, at my request. Not many buyers would do that for a customer!
Can you PM me another E-Mail address or phone number- I'll resend your report over right away! I wonder why the report didn't come through?
Just wanted to report in my experiences with Matador. I've worked with him twice over the past couple months.
Great experiences overall/recommended!
Thanks for the review! I’m honored that I could help!
I wanted to make sure I shared my full experience on working with this buyer. To start off, this is the first time I have sent a load over the internet (other than just normal ebay/craigslist sales)... in addition to that it was (at least to me) a pretty large lot of stuff. So with that in mind, I was on edge and probably very needy, and probably sent way too many messages to check on the progress than I should have. However each time matador responded and told me the status. Pricing was exactly as expected, and he made every effort to make sure I was in the know with what was going on after he received my lot. Total turn around for my order (which included about 300 sticks of ram to be tested), from first contact, to getting my money order in the mail was about 1 month.
I would highly recommend this buyer, and will use him again for "greater-than-scrap" PC parts I get. Now that I know the process, and know this is a trust-worthy, honest guy, I will be much more at ease with all future orders. This buyer went above and beyond.
tl;dr This buyer is great and honest. I recommend him and will use him again once I stockpile up enough stuff again.
Hey Matador, I have a lot of laptop computer motherboards, all working btw, and a bunch of memory as well that I was wondering if you'd be interested in? I have offered them to a few companies this week, just waiting to hear back but I thought I would post here as well. Let me know.
Thanks for the kind review, KSS! Your lot was an absolute pleasure to test! I look forward to helping with many future lots!
@Pauly: Most memory types are listed in our spreadsheet, but I can always quote out something if it's not in there. I had a customer send in a small amount of rare DDR2 RAM a couple weeks ago for example. You never know what obscure parts might still have value
As for laptop motherboards, do you know what they came out of? I sometimes run across laptops that come in and need new ones. If so, I can definitely use them as replacements if they're for the right machines. If not, I can still quote them out. I don't work with laptop motherboards much, but I'm always eager to work with new things ;)
Hi matador, I sent you an email last week but not sure if you received it or not. I have a lot of server RAM that I'd like to send your way. Looking forward to working with you.
I sent an E-Mail over the weekend, but it must not have made it somehow. Anyways, the only question I had on your lot was the DDR2 server RAM. I found two completely different types of RAM with that part number. If you can let me know the make and model, I can tell you what you've got and quote it!
I look forward to working on your lot!
Sent you the info that you requested via email. Just another heads up in case it ended up in your spam folder again
I'm not seeing it in my E-Waste inbox or the spam filter. Would you like me to give you my personal E-Mail so you can send it there?
I had some email trouble sending to his address as well, probably a technical issue or something.... but he is very responsive to private messages on here. If you click "Send PM", it should get to him!
The one caveat being that the messaging through this site is weird too, in that it does actually show in a sent folder or anything.... but, if you send it, it does go through...
Let's try your personal email and hopefully we'll have better luck. I just re-sent the email again right now.
KSS, I wish I could send him a PM but I'm still too new and haven't reached the magical # of posts yet to unlock access to PM capability. From, what I've read from matador's posts and other people's reviews, I don't doubt that matador is a stand up guy
For some reason, your second one came in. I'll price out your RAM tonight if I get a minute. I'll be driving silage truck tomorrow, so I should get some downtime too. E-Mail would be a lovely thing.... if it would work more than half the time :D
Current price pls
Hi Wyatt, good to see you are buying AMD processors. I'll be keeping you in mind this summer when things pick up.
Yep- the spreadsheet there is updated, though nothing much has really changed these last few months. The usual depreciation of parts value has been pretty much offset by the spike in demand for refurbished goods due to the Coronavirus mess, meaning prices are pretty stable
@Kalvlin: I absolutely love working with AMD processors. If yours aren't on the list, shoot me a PM and I'll manually look them up for you. Some of the higher end ones bring really good money though. If they come in computers with higher end (Usually gaming or workstation) motherboards, shoot me a message with the board model. Often those boards are worth more than scrap, and they also serve as a great way to protect the CPU pins in shipping ;)
Hey all, I just had another great transaction with Matador and wanted to share with the SMF community.
Thanks again!
Sent an Email. Maybe your inbox is full?
Found it! The dreaded spam filter strikes again....
I'm looking through those boards to see if there's anything we can use them in. I'll let you know
