Not to rain on that parade but lead is 47 clean 37 ww 27 battery in that order here in central WI. It varies WIDELY but the big yards are near this price, what I quoted is today's price in my email from Sadoff.
I think you could definitely do something with palletized shipping. It's not that hard to come up with lead...even now with the regulations lead is found in all kinds of things. I've been quoted averages of 11 to 14 cents on the lb for single pallet shipping all over the US, something to consider. You will move WAY more material if you have a solid shipping versus local price plan.

Yes shipping by a large box its around $1/lb so wouldn't be worth it from where I am. You should consider all this before posting and have set prices and set that your paying shipping or arent

If you don't like his prices don't use his service. Not cool to junk up his buy ad... Questions are ok, and I am sure he will appreciate them and can make changes to his buy offer as need be.

I'm not junking the ad, quite the contrary. I want him to know there are shipping options for larger shipments and that might sway his prices...and it's good to know what the prices are locally so you can make adjustments. If I had an ad out and it was under utilized I'd like to know if theres a part of the country I'm not doing business with because of the price. Also, I'm not sure you can ship lead USPS...might want to check that before you find out you can't receive packages that way because they don't give unauthorized items back. Lead is unusually high here because we have two battery makers in Wisconsin...at least that's my opinion.
Lead falls under Hazmat, Solids Class 9C and requires it to be containerized against spillage. For instance if the box is broken, it will not spill out and the handler will not come in contact with the material. According to USPS at least.
I want to reiterate, I'm not junking or slamming I just saw it and realized shipping needs to be pretty well nailed down or you are going to have confiscated shipments....and then nobody is happy. Take my advice on that...ask your post office directly if you need to. I lost two flat rate boxes of lithium ion batteries early on before I did the proper research on hazmat materials with USPS. I paid for that...literally I might add and I don't want anyone to have to learn a lesson the hard way if they don't have to.
Also...to the buyer, if your making fishing weights...can I buy some? You can't get lead shot weights around here at all anymore and the zinc ones they sell are terrible.

Best I can find there is no restriction on shipping lead. Shipped around 2000 lbs through usps last year and know other places that have as well.
As far as me buying I think it is hard to cover every scenario and make an effective ad for it. If ya got some to sell, get in touch with me and we can try to make it happen.
If you want some weights let me know what kind.

I don't doubt usps hasnt had any problems, but they are touch and go, long periods I have no issues then suddenly they have problems with material...anyways I thought you should know it is on the hazmat list as solid and it only requires it to not be loose in the package so that it will not spill or come into contact with the handlers. That's all I could get out of that convoluted website.
What I wanted to ask is if you could also add a SELLING ad for us fisherman, The types, sizes, prices...I mean I am an avid ice fisherman (and pretty much any other time). I hate zinc split shot, it's too big it seems like it slips on the line, you use em a few times and they break...more expensive, so I wanted to know if you'd be willing to take a few pics and show us your products maybe post some prices?
I tape the heck out of my boxes so there is pretty much no way for them to come open. I looked all over their website and never could even find anything about lead.

I too have mailed considerable amount of lead usps without any hazmat issue "thus far".... I did have one 60# box take over a month to reach CA, and one other 50# arrive damaged and missing an ingot.

Hi im new to this site, I am trying to find a buyer for some lead I have run across. I can give you details and send photos if your still in the market for lead. I live in CA. the lead I have acuired is over 100 years old, it has been buried, some submerged in bay water. I believe the lead is from the bottom of smelting pots from many years ago. i was used to help shore up the railroad tracks that run close to the bay. over time it has changed, again this is all speculation about the lead, meaning what i think about it, there is quite a bit of gelana involved. I have melted some out of the rock its in, however I decided to hopefully find out more about it before I did any more. Anyway I guess i'm jusst trying to find out where to sell it. There are hundreds if not thousands of pounds available. Thanks so much, Diana
