I followed all the steps on the site and printed my packing slip and everything, but I'm having a problem with the prepaid shipping label.
I filled in everything required and it says that I'll get an email with the details shortly but I still havent got anything.
This was like 7 hours ago, does it normally take this long or am I just missing something?

The team at ewasted are great i think. Look at it like this for a moment. No one know how many people send ewaste to them. A lot i will assume. On my boxes they take two day to get there and they do there thing. Gradeing weighing and look at the things i put in that i dont know what they are and check in hand in five days start to finish now that is good service. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. Five more boxes on there way!

I have a couple of questions regarding shipping and packaging for those of you who've done this a few times.

Most of the boxes I have are 16x14x14 & 12.5x12.5x11.5 with a few odd sizes thrown in.

    The estimated weights I have are - 75lbs+ Mobo's; 30lbs+ fingers; 100lbs HD; 75-100lbs CD/DVD; 100lbs junk boards; 30-40lbs of Tele/Printer, etc.; 10lb+ ram; 15lb CPU; + some Misc stuff I haven't packed yet.

Kind of feel like I'm over thinking this...but here are my questions

    1. Does a packing slip go in each box?
    2. Is 10-15 boxes too many to send?
    3. Do I mark each box 1/12, 2/12, 3/12, etc.?
    4. Would shipping be less if I consolidated into bigger boxes?
    5. Anyone use package filler to prevent boards from moving around/breaking?
    6. Brown boards - when are they feasible to ship?

With that much, you might want to look into sending one big gaylord box via LTL. I use freightquote all the time and typically get rates that I'm guessing will be much lower than sending 12 individual boxes.

[QUOTE=curlzcopper;86829]"I have a couple of questions regarding shipping and packaging for those of you who've done this a few times.

First you need to consider the cost of shipping vs the value of the item you are shipping. All my previous shipments I sent to ewasted cost about$0.50 per pound. I shipped in indivdual boxes and I saw no difference in costs per pound and I used several different sized boxes.

So for me mobo's, finger cards, ram, cpu's, telecom, hd boards and cd/dvd boards all pay enough to justify the shipping costs. When it comes to whole hard drives its for me questionable. On whole cd/dvd's and "junk" boards no way can I justify the shipping costs at $0.50 per pound.

Just today I was able to assemble a pallet load of 10 boxes with a weight of about 700lbs and shipped to ewasted via Fedex freight. The cost was about $193 for the pallet. I had to drive about 60 miles and ended up having to re-assemble the pallet on the dock because they were unable to get the loaded pallet out of my pick up.

If the numbers hold up my shipping costs will be about $0.275 per pound. I was able to justify shipping power supplies that I can only get $0.075 per pound without the wires(the ones I shipped had the wires still on). With the addition of some lower valued items I will cover the entire shipping costs.

I suggest you figure out the exact value of the items you are intending to ship and determine if you want to ship the lower valued items. Make sure you read the old threads on electronics and if you continue to have questions determining values send ewasted photo's.

I have to say ewasted continues to shine with some real customer service. I will make a post on this shipment after it is completed.

Lastly you do need to include a packing slip in each box. I am sure ewasted personnel do the best they can but nothing replaces paper work.

    Best of luck, Mike.

Looks like you made out like a bandit on those 10 mother boards,12 finger boards and 4 hard drive boards! However, I can't see getting $92 for 3 memory. Is that the right numbers?

I don't think those numbers are the quantity...

I get a quote with a departure point at one of the local freight docks. Then I have them unload the pallet from the back of my truck. Sometimes they won't unloaded it for you, and you end up hand unloading, and then rebuilding everything. Most of the time though, they will unload it no problem. I've seen guys strap an empty pallet on the roof of their car, pull up in the parking lot, take it down, add the gaylord, and then unload the car into the gaylord on the pallet, right out in the freight dock parking lot.

With the amount of weight that some of you guys are shipping, you really should be shipping LTL rather than FedEx/UPS/USPS.

I enjoy the free key chain magnet that came with the check in the mail.
    Nice touch.
