scrappygirl, there is a lot of information on the forums that you probably missed, and I'm sure you'll not make the same mistakes again. Live and learn.

I will say though that while EWasted is the best place to ship to (in my opinion), I wish there were more information available about what to ship vs what not to ship, how to package, and other best practices. My last shipment was 65 pounds and over 20 categories (I was cleaning out some space). I probably should only have sent a few categories, and for example not shipped just two RAMBUS sticks but held them until I had a pound or so. I was paid for 10 categories, and 47 pounds of the shipment was lumped into motherboards (I only sent 20 pounds of motherboards). There were comm boards, CPUs, and EPROM chips that were paid out as motherboard, but there were also printer boards paid at motherboard rate. I think there comes a point where they are going to get tired of sorting your items, and just pay a base rate for what's left. What's interesting is even in my case what I estimated for payment was within $10 of what my lot was graded as. Mario processed my shipment, so I can only do so much - the buck stops with him. I'm taking it as live and learn on my part.

Mario's running a business to support a family, not a non profit charity to teach me how to scrap. Compared to the scrap yards, he's extremely fair and tries to help as much as he can. There's a wealth of information on these forums and you can do the chat feature on his site.

Keep at it, and make your next shipment much more profitable. Find a buyer close to you that buys your low grade stuff and don't waste money shipping it.

Thanks Foobar and also to everyone else who replied both here and PM's, it was all so helpful and I really appreciate your input and feedback. Next shipment goes out in a few days and I am looking forward to a better report, even ran across my first purple ceramic Pentium Pro CPU with a purdy gold cap! Heavy little sucker too. Still haven't figured out this photobucket thing so no pics yet. Another good find this week was my 2 solid copper heat sinks! Wouldn't have known how few of these are seen nowadays if it wasn't for past postings on the subject. I just love how informative this website is...thanks again guys an gals.

    Buying Electronic precious metal scrap!

My shipment of about 55 lbs - 7 categories - arrived Friday and I'm looking forward to see what I get and how close to my estimate it is. Since this was my first shipment I was pretty meticulous in packing and even sent a printout with what I had and where it was located in the box. Not sure I'll do that every time but we'll see.

When I sent in my shipment I hads lots of stuff that did not weigh much, as I wanted to get rid of it before prices fall again. I was paid for all my items, so not sure to the above post about stuff being all lumped into motherboard catagory!

    Buying Electronic precious metal scrap!

First shipment so I might be a little bit over anxious here...but my package was delivered Friday am and the website still shows waiting for package. How long does it normally take them to update the site to show package received/in process?

I always go by when fedex or usps delivers. Check your tracking through fedex there is usually a name of person who signed for the delivery. If its at the dock on friday then that is what pricing goes by. Check first page of thread. It states pricing is determined by date delivered.

Received my check a few days ago but for my first time using this buyer, I was impressed. Both with the payment and fast processing. Definitely will be doing business again.

    Hello
Sorry alot of material has come in with a steady amount of drop offs. Some boxes may not have been scanned in correctly... still having some issues with that part of the system. Thanks for your patience!

I just had 6 of 7 delivered today, and it looks like the 7th will be there tomorrow. Site hasn't updated for me yet either

Not too worried though, just so long as prices don't change between now and then.

Should have checked here before bothering an operator on the chat function at the website. I guess the high volume is good for them and I feel better that I'm not alone. The operator said it would be 1-3 days for processing, maybe an extra day for processing due to being so busy. I'll check back in a couple of days and relax a little in the meantime. :-)

    Buying Electronic precious metal scrap!

Shipment received and processed! Approx $130 for a 55 lb box after shipping. I'll have to wait until I get home to check my estimates to see how close that number was but initial thinking is a little low. I may have miscategorized some of my stuff.

Always ask if you are unsure of pricing or grading. That way there are no surprises when you get your settlement. Especially if it is something that is not on the list of items that they buy. Mario buys alot of things that is not listed. There are so many categories that it would be impossible to list everything.
They are usually pretty accurate in their grading of everything.

Did you remove excess metal and/or batteries if any. And if you send mixed ram there is a small sorting fee as well.

Seems a lot of folks are expecting a tomato from a dandelion. I've dealt with CFCS multiple times, and met Mario personally. They are more than fair and do it right. Anytime I've had a question it has been either corrected or explained to my satisfaction without me do anything other than asking. And that has been very few times.

Many members, especially newer ones it seems are expecting a winning lottery ticket out of ESCRAP. Cluttering the thread with trivial/ridiculous complaints. Get a grip people. It's repeated over and over when anyone discusses CFCS, you will get paid fairly and timely.

Not speaking for Mario, but if I'm in his shoes I would politely ask some to take their 18#'s and 85 categories down the road. When they come back they'll be much more appreciative. Just my opinion.

These guys are stand up guys.........been dealing with them going on two years and never had any major issues........It is true many boards do get lumped into motherboard category but this is better than the mid grade high category which pays a $1 less per pound............Never met them personally but something has to be said for a company that has never missed a payment to me or anyone else I know for that matter (sure we would have heard about it if they did)..........Trust goes along way and I have trusted them with up to $2000 worth of material at one time.............I could probably get paid quicker using pay-pal but why give them my hard earned money........I normally wait patiently on my check then go cash it.............The credit union I deal with has never questioned the funds and never had an issue.............Anyways I have about 300-400 more pounds I am getting ready to send off so Ill wish Ewasted and the staff of CFCS a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.......(oh yeah how bout a Christmas bonus???....LOL just kidding)

I believe Ewaste pays aluminum price for platters. You could try selling on ebay to crafters.
