Want to Punch the Mailman? Enable or Disable SMF's friendly mail carrier

There is now an option to enable or disable the SMF Mailman.

To turn the mailman notification on or off, go to your 'General Settings' page here http://www.scrapmetalforum.com/profi...do=editoptions

All the way at the bottom there is an option to 'Activate the SMF Mailman', by default the selection is 'yes'. If you set this to 'no', ferrous's friendly face will no longer pop in to let you know you have unread messages from friends and colleagues.

I like the mailman. It's the only easy way I know to get to my inbox.

The only other way I have been able to do it is go to my name and try to send mail to myself, then go to inbox.

admin.....my mailman appears to have been stopped by rain, sleet or gloom of night (or possibly Max my German Shepherd) without my knowing. I discovered this by getting an email notification of new SMF private mail. Then I noticed my notifications number had changed. The mail is coming through, but the mailman is not appearing. I had not gone to the link to "activate mailman" before, so I checked it out. The default YES is still checked so I didn't change anything.

Same here, me an the postman always got along but now he know no longer pops up to tell me I got a PM, request, or anything. Only my email does.

Please put him back to having to be set to take the day off. I didn't change my settings, am going to go look now cause I think the update might have.

I can forgive the quotes, but this..this is unacceptable!

I agree with KZ on the ads tho, if we can't discuss it, we shouldn't be getting ads for it.

Sirscrapalot - Off to show the mailman who's boss.

As suspected he was set to off, even tho I didn't change it.

I like the fact he pops up an I don't have to constantly refresh if I'm reading a thread, etc. or check my email.

For who was having the issue of getting to your inbox...at the top near the right hand corner it says notifications, if you click there it takes ya straight to where you can access your inbox from the left side.

An please don't punch PTS he's a good guy.

Sirscrapalot - Docking pay for his mailman being off the last few days.

The mailman is still working for me when it's set to yes... Not sure why it would work for some members but not for others.

Try this... Of coarse make sure your 'activate mailman' setting is set to 'yes', then clear your browser cache, then reload the site.

Note that the mailman shows up ONLY for private messages, not any other type of notification. If you don't have unread private messages he won't be there.

He's a slacker, he took time off without asking. I have him reset now. He does it again I may have to replace him with PTS.
