I run the risk of getting FLAMED.. but here is my stance: If you come here regularly, if you come here and spend the time and become part of the forum.. not just "lurk" or come here to be a "troll" I really can't see any reason NOT to pay the, what, $37 bucks?
That's $37 bucks FOR LIFE.. if you aren't making enough scrapping to cobble together $40 bucks.. this may not be the forum for you at all.. One truckload of steel (even at our dismal prices right now) should net you $37 bones!
I guess it is all in how you view the forum.. is it a tool? Yes!
Are their awesome folks here that within reason will answer every question you could possibly have? Yes!
Are their people here I now know and consider friends for the rest of my days on earth? Yes!
But I feel I have a good "give and take ratio" of knowledge.. I participate, and try to help others.. they all do here in return for me. Did I need to spend the $ to get that? No!
But the Admin puts on a hell of a show.. and $37 bucks for a seat every day for the rest of my life is well worth it to me!

It's well worth it. I joined during the Halloween sale. It can be hard to come up with $40. It took me a few months to have enough set aside that I was ready to join. They just happened to have a sale

Just to add to this topic, I have spent 100s to $1,000s to get into trade shows and expos and ect, and when I put apples to apples, SMF is right up there from a networking point of view as I have made a bit of money from here either it be from networking or a company/person reading a post of mine (mostly all old ones since I have not been the...most active member lately) and from learning things from other people who have the "been there, done that" t-shirts as I have all the ones I need and don't mind reading someones pointers.
An hell what is the price now? I don't even remember what I paid but it was under $400 and for what the site is worth...its worth its weight in copper lmao
Ok...so who pays me for my review? lol jk jk...but really....pay for it if you want it to stick around.
