$100 contest update and more coming to the Scrap Metal Forum

Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving yesterday!

I wanted to cover a few things here.

First, I know a lot of you have been curious and anxious about the $100 contest, so I'll cover that now.

Well, this contest will be based around a new feature we've been wanting to make possible on the forum for a while now. However, in order to introduce this new feature, we have to update some "other stuff" first which we are working on right now. These updates will be mostly behind the scenes and shouldn't effect the functionality of the forum in any way. Once this "other stuff" is tested and updated, we can introduce the new feature and we can start the contest!

Second, we have some new stuff we plan to add to the forum immediately in addition to the contest once these updates are squared away. This includes some brand new features and functionality for the community (one of which will be the basis for the $100 contest), plus some other minor updates that we'll keep you informed about as time goes on.

Lol I do apologize for the prolonged suspense, it's unintentional, busy back here.

Long story short, we have a fairly major new feature coming that will definitely make for some interesting content and discussions.

I will create a thread about that in the very near future, we're in the process of testing this behind the scenes as we speak. That will most likely be followed up soon after with an "actual" contest update .

For now, just be ready to bring some awesome. HINT - Your fellow SMF members and guests will be helping to pick the winner.

What we're trying to do is bring on a "nomination" type feature, where members can essentially cast "votes" for various things (threads mainly) on the forum and finalists/winners are automatically chosen. Rather than using the 'Thanks' to pick a winner like we have in the past. What we're hoping for is to use this on a regular basis, like rotating weekly/monthly favorite threads/events/contests/etc.

Still trying to get everything to work the way it should right now, have been doing some test runs behind the scenes but it's been a little finicky (for example if there's a tie). We're looking forward to giving away the $100, we are just as anxious as you guys are ! We might switch things up a little just to get the ball rolling on the contest.

So Admin, I've often wondered who the faces are behind this app., where you got your start, what brought about the idea, if you're a fellow scrapper, and some goals for the site. I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say that I appreciate the site. It's great to connect to others who share the same interests and whom you can learn from.
