We are making some updates to the SMF Classifieds section of the forum.
1 - First is a clarification to the rules/guidelines, specifically "for sale" and "wanted" ads. The 'for sale' and 'wanted' options for classifieds threads were intended for buying and selling "stuff", not 'scrap'. For example if you needed some type of equipment or a tool or anything else, like an appliance dolly or an equipment trailer or used tools, etc.
So although some exceptions were made in the past, we will no longer be approving 'wanted' or 'for sale' classified ads unless they are for non-scrap items.
2 - Second, starting next month classifieds ads will no longer be free to post. Starting on July 1, 2015 there will be a $5 paid subscription (one-time) to post a classified ad. Scrap Room members are still entitled to creating one free Classified ad on the forum. After that, additional threads will require the $5.
Why charge a fee? Because we believe that charging a small fee will help ensure classifieds ads posted on SMF will be for "serious inquiries only".
We also have a new system in place to ensure that classifieds are reviewed and approved/disapproved much faster than before.
On another note, we have a big announcement coming soon. This is something that I believe is going to help many of you take your scrap metal recycling businesses to a new level, in a big way.
