I'll keep buying as long as I keep making money
Indianapolis checking in. Last week, $233/nt, on Monday of this week it was $190/nt.
Just left a yard in central TX - $0.04/lb for shred. Yep, some yards are down to $80/ton. That won't even pay the gas to drive the truck and trailer.
Down to 80/ton waredu but what was it before?
Sorry - I've got 2 yards that I use - one for metals, and the other for boards, motors, etc. 2 months ago the metal yard was $200/ton and last month it was $180/ton. That was at a different yard though. I called out there and they're at $140/ton now.
The yard that was at $80/ton is the one that takes my regular low-grade boards at $0.28/lb and the low-grade boards from TVs/monitors with the big flyback transformer for $0.22/lb. It's more into e-waste.
Well last week my yard was back up at $9/100lb.
Not great, but a heck of a lot better than $7.5/100lb

im getting 10.75/100#
In Houston, I took a load in last week and received $9.50 per 100. Yesterday I took another load in and it was $9.00 per 100. It keeps sliding down. Then again, I continued to scrap all through the $0.04 a pound days so I will just keep doing my thing.
1997 Scrap Shredders were paying yards $98 net ton for crushed autos, business was booming scrappers were getting $2.25 per 100 for junk autos, than the market crashed. The only difference I feel since than is the fuel cost, overhead is relatively the same despite inflation.Todays lows are still way better than that year. How many of you will keep scrapping at $50 net ton?
Sheet iron down to $160.00 a ton by me was $230.00 before Memoral Day!
here in north nj price is 7.5 for light steel down from 10.5 2 mounths ago
