3" copper pipe triangle typer L

Hello, I have a piece of 3" copper pipe triangle typer L that is ten inches long. can someone tell me approximately how much this worth? how much would a scrap yard(or the best place to take metal) pay me for it if they were not ripping me off?

Where is the best place to go(best prices and good people) in SE TeXas especially along 59 south to 242 to conroe area? for copper, aluminum and tin cans?

i was putting a load together and trying to learn how not to get ripped off but my funds have got so tight I may run out of gas on may to work so i wanted to do a small load for gas money

    thank you

Woodrow, welcome to the forum. See you from Texas so GO STEELERS!!!

You may want to start a new post and introduce yourself. The folks here will be more friendly if you do. It is customary on any forum to introduce yourself first.

As for the value of your triangle not really sure.

All scrap yards rip you off. Send your copper to me. Since I'm not saying I'll pay you for it, I'm not ripping you off.
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.

from the chart below 3" copper tube type L weighs 3.33 per foot or 0.2775 ounces per inch
    10" x 0.2775 = 2.775 pounds
if the pipe is clean....no paint, solder, tar, cement etc. it should sell as #1 copper around $2.75 per pound

if the pipe is dirty.....solder,corosion etc. it will be classed #2 copper around $2.55 per pound

This one guy who said he was into scrap metal said that you have to make sure that they weigh it by the ounce or you get ripped off. is this true? does anyone in Conroe, Texas weigh it by the ounce?

Weigh copper by the ounce? Never heard of that. I sell hundreds of pounds of copper at a time. I'm sure not going to dispute a weight over a few ounces.

Yea, I don't trust the guy now for sure. I just called him to ask him where the place he goes to is at. He would not even tell me. He wants me to come pick him up and his load of metal and then him show me. LOL.

and since i just got another job for tomorrow that is paying tomorrow I would, but he was shady with some stuff last time so.........

Look in the phone book or Google for scrap yards, plenty will come up with addresses and phone #'s

Look in your local phone book or check Google for scrap yards, you'll get plenty with addresses and phone #'s.
Most yards scales weigh to nearest lb. on nonferrus and lb or 5 lb on the steel scale.
