The reason they are stored at DMAFB is because Tucson, and southern Arizona in general, has a very hot, dry climate. This allows the aircraft to sit for long periods without being exposed to water which promotes rust. Even when it does rain, the heat dries up the water quickly. It is a very efficient storage climate for aircraft. Again, these aircraft are not scrap. They are stored in case we ever go to war with another country that has a military that can actually compete with ours. Examples: Russia, China, North Korea
A problem that gets worse each day is you still need people that can fly them and fix them, no way many of these will fly again...
