Was selling my car batteries for 5$ ea, til they dropped to 4$. Did some looking around and found a buyer paying 10$ each or .29 # over 1500 #. Sometimes it pays to make sure your getting a fair price.

It was a few months ago but I sold to a place that was $10/ car battery I forget if it was $.29, or $.32 per lb for ups and other smaller batteries.
I was very surprised, and pissed, to find how very little I was being given to current, soon to be ex, battery buyer. I don't mind someone making some money, but I don't like getting ripped off. And docking $1 for batteries with a brake in the side of it, called three different buyers yesterday and none of em did that either.
i too was getting 2-5 a battery thn i found a buyer at $12 each auto and more for bigger batteries.
The way i understand it is if you sell a new battery you have to recycle an old one if not you have to pay a fee. In the end these batteries may be getting scrapped but some companies are doing it purely to avoid paying a battery disposal fee it makes/saves them more money in the end hence why you may feel your getting ripped off at one place-they may be purely just scrapping them.

Id never sell them at a flat rate. I can negotiate my batteries better than any other scrap. A couple pennies a pound add up when you have a big quantity. I did this a few times. One of the few things I will sell outside my regular yard. Cats and batteries usually go to the small yard 5 minutes away. sometimes the small crappy yards specialize in things.

I have a guy that comes to me once a month and has been paying $10.00 a battery
That is Plus/ Minus about 50 Cents a battery what I would make taking them in my self
No longer worth the added work for me to bring them in
do those sealed lead acid UPS batteries sell along with regular car batteries?

Scrapyaherd; If you go to buy a new battery they will charge you a fee that is called a core charge. When you bring your old battery back to them they will give you the core charge back(5.00-10.00). Bear; I have been getting .33-.39# for UPS batteries. I have to have 500+# to get the higher amount. I haven't sold any car batteries yet but the price is about the same.

At my yard the price for UPS batteries is usually the same as car batteries .30-.35# but they label them as industrial for some reason.
As far as the core charge goes...yes places charge 5-10 bucks when you buy a new battery so that you bring back your old one. And for the Newbs out there, as scrappers we need to target the lazy folks that never took the old one back and a few years later are left scratching their head wondering what to do with it now.

Yard I use buys them at $7.00 each, Not too bad

I think I got 9$ for the last car battery i brought to the yard...
I am driving a fair distance to sell but it'll be a multipurpose trip too, stopping by harbor freight and doing some other shopping! Basically it breaks down like this 96$ vs 250 and spending 50 for gas. I'll take the extra 100 even if I spend 50$ in gas, next round I'll wait til I have 1500 # of batteries to help offset the cost of gas.
hello friend, i wanted to know if possible how much are the batteries being sold know, or is there anywhere you would know that could provide this type of information. thank you kindly.

yard i use buys at $7-8 each right now i get 49 cents per kilo
I just took 6 to a battery store here in Anaheim that sells new and used batteries. He gave me $8/pc if unshorted (?) and $15/pc credit toward a replacement battery. Not too bad when I got out the door with 2 reconditioned group 24 batteries with 6 month warranty for $66 total. None of the batteries held any charge even after epsom salt/distilled water fill treatment.. Those babies were toast.
