Hmm, seems that I am getting better prices on my boards then my motors (included with motors are transformers), guess I should stop peeling them off the boards. DOH! Who doesn't love extra work with less pay!

Wow..that means someone is paying them more than 0.45/lb for them. I wonder how many hands they go through before someone takes the hit.

I'm kind of torn. I've taken in 3 loads of brown over the last few months and gotten anywhere from .10/lb to .75/lb. Just not sure that I want to leave the copper on just incase the price drops goes down again. I dunno...

I have seen prices as high as .24 for brown boards, which means they are probably selling them for 30-35. Its not that far off, but .45 seems a bit high.

Wow, I get $.10/lb for low grade boards. I bet at your prices, you don't see a lot of TVs just being left out, do you?

I'm so into scrapping.. When my Steel Toe Boots Wear out, I cut the Steel out of them and recycle the Toe!

i have emailed 5 different board buyers here in kc and none have got back to me with low grade board pricing, basically there is not buyer for them here and i cant turn them in with shred, so i have just been trashing them

My local yard gave me "dealer pricing" for my low grade and power supplies. Low went from .05 to .20 a lb.

Yikes, sorry about the delay getting back to ya. Didn't notice this message. DURRR. I'm in Northern Michigan, Grand Traverse County. Note that I called last week about low grade prices and was quoted .05/lb. So, now I don't know what's going on. A price drop or just a couple people with conflicting information. Ahh well.

This happens to me all the time. Every time i have called about a price, it's almost double what i was quoted. I called about cd/dvd drives the other day and was quoted $0.10 and when i took them in I got $0.23. That was with the boards removed. I've been wondering about that "dealer pricing" Mech mentioned. I don't ever take in a large enough load to consider asking for more money. Maybe since i see the same guys every week they give me a bump, or i also thought that maybe the computer program prices based off of frequency. Almost like donating plasma, the more you do it the more you get paid. Now I'm totally off topic and rambling, I enjoy the bump in price upon payout, but why quote me at one price over the phone and pay me twice as much when i get there?

Possibly when you call in you just get quoted their "regular" rate, whereas when you show up you are recognized as a regular customer, and get a better deal. That's my guess anyways.

Every time I went into my local yard the owners son asked me about escrap. I had tried to buy them (computers) from the yard at one time, but the son figured out that there is more money to be made by tearing them down. I kept telling him that I could not afford to sell to them at .05 lb. He asked about what kind of volume I had sitting around of some different items like the low grade and power supplies. I answered about 200 lb each and he says, "well let me go get the dealer price sheet". Most other stuff is still too cheap but those two items are close enough that I'll take their .20 lb for hauling just a few miles.I've been wondering about that "dealer pricing" Mech mentioned. The dealer sheet must be how their getting computer shops and industrial accounts to sell to them.
