More good news on scrap prices.

Went to the yard yesterday and the scale guy showed me an email they got from there buyer. All aluminum housed motors, (washer, dryer, dishwasher) are now being purchased at Irony Aluminum prices. Anyone else run across this?

sounds like you getting screwed if your having to sell aluminum motors at dirty aluminum 17 cents pound, when theyre paying 23 for motors, id find another yard to take your motors to

That's my thought. I was caught off gaurd though because they beat all the other yards prices on everything. Oh well atleast they were kind enough to give me a heads up.

Maybe it's from the increased use of aluminum windings in motors...

the last batch of motors/transformers I took in the guy takes out some nippers and starts digging through them checking for aluminum windings. This has been about 2 months ago. None were all aluminum, but several were one copper and one aluminum. They took them at motor price, but I saw the ground was changing on that. Dirty aluminum prices here aren't hardly worth even sorting out

Odd. I seemed to have started to broach this subject a week or so ago, and then I was "shot down". I think the words were "We're a long way off from anything happening". Looks like it's happening sooner than later... yards are realizing returns aren't as good. This comes down to "Boomer Scrap". I know you people don't want to hear it, and I don't care. And this is the start of me being right.

i retract my statments above, i thought you were talking about the casings not the windings, i agree with the yards pricing on a reduction for aluminum windings

Is it just me or does it seem that Gangel is out to pick a fight? I don't know what got your panties in a knot, but remember that you catch more flies with honey than vinegar...
