    Copper Price Detroit Michigan

Havent been doing this long or very much of it, Have a small car so dont do much normal scrapping just been stripping wires for a few months now off and on. Mainley strip power wire for car amplifers, Get a decent amount of weight for not much work. Trying to find ways to strip smaller stuff easier.

Anyways, First time i went to the yard (I take it to the 'burbs, Alot of police bull**** in the hood) i got $2.60 a lb for bare #2.

    Second time i got $2.40 a lb.

Went again today havent been there in about 2 months, Got $2.45 a lb and a few laughs. Cant complain. Prices aient dropping like ive heard people around here say they were going to.

I had to laugh when i pulled up, The dude/owner running the desk is a older man whos sarcastic. I pull up and theres metal signs like you see for handicap signs, That size, All along the barb wired fence saying 'Church Van Parking Only' I shoulda took a picture, I got a good chuckle out of it.

He quoted me .75 cents a lb for insulated. Which i have a **** ton of which alot is so small i dont think will be worth my time stripping it, I may have to consider that.

Good looks ima look into it.

I made one tool out of peices of a dashboard. Its about 5 inches long and about 2 inches wide. Two peices of a dashboard cut to the same size and drilled holes in it. Then bolted together with simple nuts and bolts. Carved a little into the edge of one part of it so there'd be a small gap and put a razor blade in there. Works good for around 12-16 gauge wire but any smaller it wont cut. Anything from 0-10 gauge i usually cut using a utility knife.

The general consensus is that anything smaller trying to strip is a waste of time.
