I use several scrap yards in order to get the most I can for my scrap. Copper and brass to one, aluminum and insulated copper to another, steel to another and so on. All my e-waste goes to my local buyer because I cann't find any one else that is as honest and can beat his prices. Don't be afraed to shop around.

    2 part question

So when selling motherboards will people also buy motherboards from older TVs, dvdplayers, radios. Basicly will people buy any motherboard or does it have to be from a computer? Second part is do they have to be perfectly intact or can you just bust them out with a hammer to sell them?

Motherboards come from computers. Older TVs, DVD players, radios, etc. all have circuit boards and none are as high grade as computer motherboards. Not everyone buys everything. Check the buyers section here and check with your local yard - find out who pays the most for what (make sure to include the price of shipping or driving).

Why use a hammer when there are perfectly good screws holding it in place? There are parts on circuit boards (not to mention the dust) that I really don't want to be breathing which is what would happen if you start swinging a hammer at it.

We all have to pay for our education at some time in our life, I know I have made a lot of mistakes over the years. It's all good, just have to learn. We were all beginners at one time.

    Never heard that one before.
If the yard you're going to daily is ERC in CL, you're getting screwed daily. For non-ferrous check out T&C in CL they are an honest buyer/broker, they might not have the highest prices but their scales are spot on and they grade material fairly.
For your steel, save it up and go elsewhere weekly, whether it's to Woodstock, Aurora, Rockford, or into the city. If you're going to the "yard" I suspect you are, they do a disservice to honest metal brokers everywhere. Best of luck to you!

Circuit boards from tvs,DVDs and radios are low grade boards. They have little if any gold on them. The best boards to get are PC motherboards,RAM chips,CPUs,server boards and telecoms boards.
The low grade rubbish I just throw in the light gauge bin.
