    Price Trend History

I don't know if this will be too complicated a question, but just wondering if there is a way to see past prices of regular old ferrous metal. I have an entire farm to clean up and I'm trying to figure out if I should hold out til spring, or if that matters. I've heard prices go up in the spring. On gentleman on here said they go down in spring/summer, but in general, I've heard the opposite is true. I've searched all over this forum and can't seem to see where people might be talking about this.

    So my questions are these:

    1. Do prices generally go up in the spring?

    2. If so, approx by what %? If it's not huge, it might not be worth waiting.

    3. Is there an historical month by month breakdown in chart form? Might be nice to see it over a few years, too.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

For the past couple years, all the old "trends" have not happened. I've taken to stockpiling some and just sell ferrous and aluminum whenever.
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.

Steel has gone up in many areas recently. I'd say now is a good time for a clean-up.

For the info you're looking for, try searching for "steel spot price".

Being as how you don't seem to be in a rush to get it scrapped, I'd suggest listing some of the older pieces on Craigslist. It might take months for the right buyer to come along, but they eventually will

There's also several threads that covered this subject in depth, but I don't recall the titles

Probably not the answer you are looking for, but as a hobby I would sit on material and sell when the market was up and as a business buy and sell ASAP Words of wisdom from successful scrap metal dealers/yards. DON'T PLAY THE MARKET

How much do you have? The trends have been off such as a summer price drop and such. Sell your steel and make sure you call around to gey the best price for the other good stuff you have! Also sell your Ewaste here for better prices...

Thanks for the tips. I think I'll research it a little more, but nice to have some facts to go off of.
